Agreed. I'm hoping for the former - I've stockpiled popcorn and beer - but expecting the latter. The English lack the fighting spirit of the French.
English people don't control the "narrative" which is important for any revolution.
Look at the attempted military coup over Erdogen in Turkey. It failed, because Erdogen controlled the narrative. The media, under the command of Erdogen, told the Turkish people to go out in to streets and that Turkey was under attack by rogue military.
If the military had occupied the media companies first, and told everyone to stay home, they probably would have succeeded in their coup.
In the U.K., the left control the narrative.
And the narrative is:
"Muslims are the religion of peace"
"The EU is amazing and brexiteers are knuckle draggers for voting leave"
"Diversity is our strength"
Any pro-Brexit demonstration will be spun as "Nazi rallies", the "Alt-Reich", "literally Hitler".
All simply because the left control the narrative.
There is nothing more damaging to a movement than betrayal within your ranks. There are too many British remainers that are just complete traitors and sell-outs. Waving EU flags in the streets ugh ... gross.
