Here are user reviews for Celexa (a light SSRI). I never said 'they make all people have crazy thoughts', rather, I said they make 'SOME' people have them. Read some of the bad reviews and people's experiences - that is your evidence.
That is not evidence.
Like one of the reviewer points out, doctors should be more cautious in the beginning, do genetic tests, test for other diseases (like lymes, lupus, things that may be considered depression), go to other less risky medicines, or even alternative medicines, and do so before they pull out the big guns and go to an SSRI.
How would you know what doctors should do? You act like you have a clue what you’re talking about.
Genetic testing is mostly useless, can’t determine the effectiveness of a medication, and shouldn’t be used to guide treatment.
Most people will get a series of routine labs as part of their initial work up. It’s not appropriate to order batteries of tests going down rabbit holes searching for rare or controversial illnesses in the absence of clinical findings.
Not sure what less risky medications exist for depression. SSRIs are some of the safest medications in mental health.
