Privatized healthcare vs public healthcare.

I live in Canada, a few months back my son wiped out on his bike and split his chin open. We took him to the hospital to get him some stitches, and spent six hours in the waiting room before being seen by a doctor.

Thankfully, my family has been lucky enough that we very seldom had any type of medical emergency, so this was somewhat of a shock to me.

6 hours in a waiting room with a 5 year old, covered in blood and falling asleep on my lap 4 hours past his bedtime, all the while thinking about the amount of money the government taxes me.

Yes, I would have paid a lot of money at that point just to have an option to take him to a private clinic, but no such option exists here.

The reality is cardiac arrests, strokes, seizures, anaphylactic reactions are more deadly and must be treated first. Paying your way would only mean cutting ahead of the line for something less life threatening.

What I was suggesting is to have both options, have the public health care for the people who can’t afford to pay, but also have the option for people who are willing to pay to avoid the wait.

Blames capitalism, yet fails to realize capitalism is the entire reason Francis had other opportunities. Francis didn't like the deal he was getting with one organization, so he chose to shop his talents elsewhere. No one has to agree with Dana or Francis' decisions. They are allowed to negotiate their own contract. This place really lacks depth of understanding sometimes.
