TERMINATOR: GENESIS Eyes John Boyega as Miles Dyson's Son

2nlh4ed.jpg

John Boyega had his breakthrough role in the excellent 2011 sci-fi film Attack the Block, and he is in the running to star in Star Wars: Episode VII. THR reporter Borys Kit tweeted this tidbit of news the other day, saying Boyega did indeed test for Star Wars but he’s also wanted to play the role of Miles Dyson’s son in Terminator: Genesis. The problem is that Boyega can’t commit to Genesis until the final word comes down for Star Wars, which has yet to happen, and the films will be in production at the same time so it’s impossible to say “yes” to both. It’s a tricky predicament, albeit not a terrible one, as he’s caught between franchise jump-starting films from two beloved franchises.

The reveal that Miles Dyson’s son plays a role in Terminator: Genesis is just the latest confirmation that director Alan Taylor’s reboot will deal heavily with the series canon. Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke leads the film as Sarah Connor with Jason Clarke playing John Connor and Jai Courtney playing Kyle Reese, and the time travel aspect allows Arnold Schwarzenegger to return as the T-8000—though the Governator himself recently revealed that we’ll also see a younger version of the T-8000.

I read somewhere that Cheech and Chong are teaming up with the Broken Lizard boys to make a movie.

Great match IMO. Can't wait to see that one.

"He's working a script right now for us," Chong told celebstoner.com. "We've had some preliminary meetings. It looks really good. It looks really funny. It will be about us going to a festival called the Burning Joint. All sorts of shenanigans happen. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Potfest finally???

Imagine if they were somehow able to get Dave Chappelle, Jim Brewer, the other two from Half Baked, Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Mike Epps, Method Man, Redman, James Franco, Seth Rogan, and Danny McBride involved? It would be the ultimate stoner movie. Maybe even the dude who played Slater in Dazed and Confused.

At CinemaCon earlier today, 20th Century Fox showed off the first footage from Matthew Vaughn's (X-Men: First Class) big screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons' The Secret Service. As you can see from the reactions beneath the description, it sounds as if this will be yet another great movie from the Kick-Ass helmer, and perhaps even one of 2014's best comic book movies. It was recently revealed that the release date of The Secret Service has been changed from March 6th, 2015 to October 24, 2014, so not long to wait now!

Steven Weintraub wrote, "Saw first footage from Secret Service. Looks fucking amazing. We saw an action scene that used slow and fast motion in a brilliant new way. Colin Firth kicked so much ass in Secret Service it was crazy. Liam Neeson better watch his back. You will be floored by the footage." Mystery Devin Faraci tweeted, "First footage from Secret Service: great! Matthew Vaughn operating at his best with broad/fun action." And Alex Billington said, "Whattt Matthew Vaughn's Secret Service looks awesome! Badass fights, fun comedy, like Men in Black meets James Bond or something."

Jupiter Ascending looks awful.

Not gonna lie, this looks way better than I was expecting. The action looks fantastic and premise feels "superheroic."

Seconded.

The trailer has shifted me from "not remotely interested" to "absolutely going to see."

Davo Okeniyi to Play Miles Dyson's Son in TERMINATOR: GENESIS

Davo-Okeniyi-Terminator-Genesis-032814-Dragonlord.jpg

After fighting for his life against humans in The Hunger Games, Dayo Okeniyi is now ready to fight for his life against cyborgs in Paramount and Skydance’s Terminator: Genesis. Best known for his role as Thresh in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games, Okeniyi has been tapped to play Miles Dyson’s son in the latest installment in the Terminator franchise. He joins Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke, who had already signed on to the pic. Alan Taylor is directing. Okeniyi’s past credits include The Spectacular Now, Runner Runner and most recently Universal’s Endless Love.

Plot details have not been revealed, other than this is the first film in a standalone trilogy. In Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Dyson, played by Joe Morton, was the scientist who helped in creating Cyberdyne Systems, the computer system that started the war between the machines and humans. Dyson is killed in the pic, but his son is featured briefly in the film. How he plays into this new standalone trilogy is unknown. Skydance will finance along with the studio, with David Ellison producing for Skydance. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier penned the script. Terminator: Genesis opens July 1, 2015.

2nd Trailer for THE PURGE 2 Expands the Scope of the Chaos

The-Purge-Anarchy-Frank-Grillo-032714-Dragonlord.jpg

A new trailer for the horror sequel The Purge: Anarchy has landed online. The film follows the same premise as the first pic—one day a year, all crime (including murder) is legal in the United States—but this time leaves the “home invasion” conceit behind and takes the action to the streets. The first trailer focused on a couple who finds themselves stranded when their car breaks down, but this trailer gives us a look at a character played by Frank Grillo who willingly goes out seeking revenge. Grillo drives a car perfectly suited for a Mad Max movie, so one imagines he’ll fare pretty well during this Purge. The film also stars Zach Gilford and Michael Kenneth Williams. The Purge: Anarchy opens in theaters July 18th.

Synopsis: The New Founders of America invite you to celebrate your annual right to Purge in THE PURGE: ANARCHY. Returning alongside writer/director/producer James DeMonaco to produce the sequel to 2013’s sleeper hit are Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity and Insidious series), alongside S

Mel Gibson to Star in TAKEN-Style Thriller BLOOD FATHER

Mel-Gibson-Braveheart-Pictorial-Dragonlord.jpg

The Mel Gibson comeback train has been on a slow, sputtering roll as the actor/director still hasn't quite recovered from a spectacular meltdown and a bitter divorce that thoroughly soiled the persona of the former A-list talent. His last couple of roles were in an action movie no one saw, Get The Gringo, and a sequel no one wanted, Machete Kills. Now he's got another gritty movie lined up that should play right into his grizzled demeanor.

The man who directed the two Mesrine movies is recruiting Gibson for a new thriller. Jean-Francois Richet has Gibson in talks to star as an ex-con and former Hells Angel in Blood Father, described as

Gregory Jacobs to Direct MAGIC MIKE Sequel, MAGIC MIKE XXL

69gg48.jpg

Hot on the heels of Joe Manganiello's informal announcement that the sequel to Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike will shoot this fall, new details about the stripper dramedy have emerged. While potential helmers to take over the directing chair for the sequel included star and original co-writer Channing Tatum and co-writer/producer Reid Carolin, sources close to the camp tell The Playlist that a filmmaker has been found: Gregory Jacobs. And that the title of the sequel will be Magic Mike XXL.

With Soderbergh remaining as an executive producer on the project, Jacobs' name comes as little surprise

First Clip from DreamWorks' HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2

How-to-Train-Your-Dragon-2-031814-Dragonlord.jpg

DreamWorks Animation has released the first clip from the highly anticipated sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2, and it’ll make you want to revisit the first movie ASAP. The follow-up takes place five years after the first installment, as Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Toothless are exploring new territories while the rest of their friends are enjoying dragon races. During one of Hiccup and Toothless’ journeys, they discover a secret ice cave, hundreds of new wild dragons, and the mysterious Dragon Rider.

This debut clip is brief, but the gorgeous animation coupled with the character humor and reprisal of composer John Powell’s theme is a wonderful reminder of just how lovely the first film is. The film also features the voices of Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Kit Harington, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, Djimon Hounsou, and Kristen Wiig. How to Train Your Dragon 2 opens in 3D on June 13th.
