RBY vs Seth Gross - Match Study

I was recently watching a single leg demo from Jeff Jordan (longtime coach of St. Paris Graham, one of the best high school programs in the country of the last decade +), and he is not a fan of the limp arm for the very reason you state above. Limp arming can obviously work even at the highest...

Did anyone catch Nickal v. Yergali (KAZ)? One of the best FS matches I've seen in a long time. Crazy amount of action (lot of great upper body stuff from Yergali) and came down to the last few seconds.

Lot of U.S. entries for FS. 3 guys at each of 57, 65, 74, 86 and 97. 74 kg probably the most stacked right now (6 former world medalists). Dake v. Chamizo would be a fun one. Does anyone know if Nolf is healthy?

Just watched Nolf / Imar final. Was Nolf hurt (I saw the knee wrap)? Imar has really had his number lately. Strange to see Nolf get dominated in the hand-fighting game (an area he excelled at in college). Martinez always had solid technique with top-notch strength & aggressiveness, but his...

How do you maintain back mount?

I think this is generally a great list, but there are exceptions. For example, a really strong/tight body triangle can diminish the importance of the classic cheek to cheek / chin hooking over the shoulder head control position. Gordon Ryan is the obvious example of this (he is often loose with...

Damn, didn't realize he was that big (183 lbs). Sounds like the cut to 157 might not have been the easiest, either. Very cool about his potential interest in submission grappling / ADCC. He definitely has a style of wrestling that would transition well to BJJ. Would absolutely love to see that...

That's awesome. Maybe he'll go over this tech?

Cox is the World Champ at 92 kg. 0 points scored against.

Sidakov does it again at 74 kg.

Fair point. Perhaps Dake is just unlucky to be stuck in no-man's land as far as Olympic weights are concerned. He's maybe too big for 74 and probably too small for 86. Cox seems to be in a similar conundrum with regards to 86 / 97.

Sidakov's pushout at the end vs. JB (this year) was just pure determination and grit. He was in a rather terrible position and just kept his feet moving to power through. Hard not to be a fan of him.

Kind of a fantasy matchup right now - but Sidakov vs. Dake in 2020 would be an interesting matchup. This assumes Dake dethrones JB at 74 at the Oly trials (which I personally think is likely).

Thought we'd possibly see a Bajrang / Otoguro finals rematch. Nope - neither made it this year!

Successful Wrestling Coaches w/ No Experience

Correlation is not always causation, though. Just because the majority of top coaches had college/pro experience does not necessarily mean they are top coaches because of said experience (although I think it's obvious that high level experience is certainly relevant / helpful in coaching). There...

    Zaurbek Sidakov Slide-By Study

I like the Sidakov crowbar version (H. Yazdani does it this way, too). But I see other high level guys (like Geduev in the video) use the forearm bump variation. I'm not sure if certain physical attributes (arm length?) may make one of the variations more effective or not. When I teach the move...
