    Targeted/Cyclical Ketogenic Diet for BJJ/MMA/MT?

I use a SKD (70-80%fat, never over ~25g carbs) with BJJ/JJJ and strength+gymnastic training and do just fine. I took an initial hit in performance as I adapted, but if you really do your research and know wtf you're doing with your food intake and wtf is happening in your body when you do, you...

    Carb restricted diet anyone?

I'm fully into deeply adapted nutritional ketosis (reflected by regular blood BHB readings) with a strict diet 95% of the time (75-80% fat, 20-25% protein, sub 20g net carbs, 95% whole foods), been here for almost six months, whilst training tons of jujitsu and other workouts. My anecdotal...

What do you thing of ZMA (people who've tried it)?

I take it 4-5 nights a week. I find it definitely affects the deepness of my sleep and dreams/etc, but if I take it every day it sort of dilutes the effect and I dont notice it as much, so I take a day or two off it each week. On this subject, I noticed a huge variance in the amount of zinc...

    Intermittent Fasting

I think this is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to personal nutrition. You have to learn, experiment, be patient, and be disciplined with yourself and try different things if you want to observe the effects when you're trying to change how/why you consume food.

Awesome, current talk on the ketogenic diet for metabolic therapy and cancer:

Thanks for the clarification, makes more sense to me now. Do they produce more baseline ketones because of the energy demands of the body combined with their disregulated insulin? Thanks for the response, I appreciate the breakdown. I think the main idea of most ketogenic diets (outside...

Awesome, current talk on the ketogenic diet for metabolic therapy and cancer:

Are you talking about ketoacidosis? If so, isn't that just type 1, or can that happen with type 2 as well? I would assume a diet with a foundation in low insulin/blood sugar would be ideal for type 2, at least until you've broken bad dietary habits/fixed metabolic damage/etc. Yeah...

Despite his abrasive delivery, he did sort of have a point. I guess its a matter of perspective when something like "...the validity of..." is stated, but have you seen the video I posted, and/or seen/read anything by the folks I've mentioned in this thread? I'm in no way intending to be...

^This. Folks who don't agree with that statement in principle, regardless of their own dietary perspective, simply haven't looked into the most recent stuff on how it works. I'd hoped to spread some with my original post and by dropping some of the names I've mentioned in my posts in here...

Awesome, current talk on the ketogenic diet for metabolic therapy and cancer:

Yeah then I'd definitely recommend not attempting actual ketosis, just do keep your carbs a little lower and have them after training sessions/etc. Either way while you're cutting your performance will take a hit, to what degree is relative to your physiology. I'm not going to even try to...

Awesome, current talk on the ketogenic diet for metabolic therapy and cancer:

You can check out my previous post in this thread for anecdotal stuff about performance. You really have to fully adapt before you'll know whats up with your body and ketosis, it takes time and isn't a quick process. My performance rolling has only improved, and my muscle endurance is...

Awesome, current talk on the ketogenic diet for metabolic therapy and cancer:

It isn't something you could test "over the weekend" as it's a long term adaptation commitment to really get your metabolism shifted over. You're changing the majority of the fuel source for your brain, after all, no minor thing. At first my training took a bit of a dive, as was expected...

    Breakfast!

Damn right, it takes a while. I used to have a huge fat shake in the AM (cream, chocolate whey, butter, egg, MCT oil, flax, spices, etc) during my adaption phase, and it was delicious and worked like a charm, but now that I'm always between like 1.2 and 2.0 mmol/ketones fasted and I'm adjusting...

Awesome, current talk on the ketogenic diet for metabolic therapy and cancer:

I find this stuff absolutely fascinating, both for what I observe ketosis doing to my body, and it helping folks I know personally who have other disorders, but the cancer potential is staggering, not to mention disorders like parkinsons/etc. I want me some of those damn ketone esters...

Carb Backloading - Lifting, Grappling, Eating

Which one do you find with zero calories? The lowest I can find all have like 6g sugar (the Rehab line, and am thoroughly addicted to the lemon tea flavor) in a can, which is a motherfucker for me trying to keep net carbs below 20/day.
