    Leg Locks Decoded (flograppling)

I think I was a little unclear. I'm not talking about choking the guy directly from there, but snapping him down with an "arm drag" (I see it more as a snap-down than a drag, but it's a bit of both), then taking the shorter path to the front headlock instead of pursuing the back. Trans hit...

    Leg Locks Decoded (flograppling)

I think the highest percentage path to the guillotine from bottom is by way of a snap-down using the legs vs. an opponent trying to pass Miragaia style (over/under or double under). Braulio does this extensively.

Double under stack pass defense - late stages

When it comes to countering Miragaia style passing with the head low, I'm a big believer in snap-downs, e.g. what Trans does to Santana here: Braulio shows a variation of this move on his website, vs. the double under pass, where he capitalizes on the opponent's occupied arms, trapping...

Why is "staying on the top arm side of your seatbelt" still harped on?

Not that I'm aware of, but it's on Estimainaction. It's basically about aligning the 'V' of your elbow with his chin and compressing everything with emphasis on the front-to-back pressure, causing his chin to press into his throat.

Why is "staying on the top arm side of your seatbelt" still harped on?

The underhook side makes for easier trapping of the top arm with your leg, IMO, at which point the RNC can be done just as it would be from the crucifix – e.g. as a one-handed straight choke, Marcelo style. As long as you have your head between his and the floor, or a Kimura style seatbelt...

    Subs/moves you're afraid to use?

I really like the baratoplata, but sometimes I'm a little scared to apply it fully on people who don't recognize the position. Especially from top, it's fucking brutal.

What leg do you lead in the over/under clinch?

This is why I asked the other poster if it was a single underhook or over/under situation. I love working the reverse headlock from a single underhook, in which case getting deep as hell with that same side lead leg is key.

What leg do you lead in the over/under clinch?

Are you doing this from an over/under clinch, or a single underhook tie?

What leg do you lead in the over/under clinch?

Overhook. The idea is that leading with the underhook side leg (when the opponent has an opposite underhook) exposes you to the Polish and step-around bodylock, and I guess lateral drop as well if moving forward.

Open Guard vs. A closed type Guard

I don't play much closed guard. I prefer to play a guard that invites my opponent to engage and attempt a pass where he is, rather than one that makes him defend and stall until I concede a more favorable position to him. RDLR/tornado is good in this way, IMO.

Far side armbar from knee shield (or anywhere else really) - kimura grip or frame and

Yeah, I never go for the inverted armbar finish, I just use the knee to clear the head and pummel my leg over for the belly-down/facing the legs position. Like Cyborg often does, I also use it as an entry into the tornado sweep. You can also pummel the leg through by pushing the far shoulder...

Far side armbar from knee shield (or anywhere else really) - kimura grip or frame and

This is one of my main techniques from guard, and IMO Cyborg has the best entry for it, simply underhooking the arm, but utilizing sneaky leg work: Skip to the end. Unfortunately, he doesn't show the full "leg over" finish here, but he shows how he enters with his knee underneath the...

Basic Upper-Body Throwing Series (Metzger and Polish Throw)

Regardless of the lead leg details and the dubious twist-down, that Metzger/Polish combo is nice. I've actually been using that myself as a go-to if I end up in the over/under position when defending.

Eddie Cummings interview (very interesting read)

That toes in the biceps detail is neat. (As are all the other details in that vid.)

    EBI 4 Discussion Thread

The bridging detail is key, and illustrates an important point with every twisting foot lock: You want the foot to rotate independently of the knee. Now, the bridging pressure Eddie applies to the knee is always creating rotation in opposition to the rotation of the foot. He's not just keeping...

The Dangers Of Social Media (Child Predator Social Experiment)

This can't be real. Traumatizing your kids like that, AND broadcasting it to the whole net without proper anonymity ... I don't buy it. Worst parenting ever if true.

    Leite's Half Guard

The term "half guard" has all but lost its meaning, IMO. Maybe we should stop using the term for offensive bottom positions and only use it for the shitty positions where you're flattened out/underhooked with no distance control, and your leg entanglement is just as much a leg turk for the...

Dirty Holt, please give your opinions on this judo takedown

When I hit this, I always drive the opponent's weight laterally onto the far leg, getting my trailing foot behind his near leg right as I sort of lunge across his body and essentially kouchi gari him sideways into a leg drag. Not even sure if you would call it tani otoshi, but I find it safer...
