A supporter here, very solid fighter. Takes little damage, fights efficiently and gets it done. A smart approach, contrary to some people's opinion. He seems not in favor with your average ufc viewership (and this forum) though. Thoroughly understandable.
Regardless numbers, you can tell he has above average reach for the weight class and uses it very well. If not convinced, look at the Holloway fights. This was a big factor in him out striking Max with relative ease.
I still think Adesanya is the better fighter, however, this makes you think how much of a fighter's success in any weight class is the product of pure physical advantage of some sort, with reach probably being the biggest advantage.
Also worth noting Adesanya's chin to power ratio for a lanky...
Some absurb bias in here. Cruz never had anything for Vera, nothing to make him retreat at any point. Vera kept walking down an always defensive Cruz and was never in any danger. It was just a matter of time before Vera found his mark. I don't know how you could score any rounds for Cruz...
I tend to think the striking level is higher across the board these days. It was painful to watch those wide open hooks of Cruz, swinging at thin air most times and I understand why he succeeded years ago with a more wrestling based game.
Vera is well rounded, has clean technique and is very...
If there wasn't such a big reach difference and the tendency to counter instead of brawling I'd say this fight could look like the Gastelum fight, at least in terms of Whittaker's approach to it.
I had assumed it's public knowledge or at least pretty evident these are nothing but fixed fights but by reading the comments it looks I've been wrong all along.
This place is full of falsehoods. Izzy being completely dominated is false as is also false him being this brave true martial artist testing himself in a heavier weight class.
Adesanya clearly lost a decision (not embarrassed by any means) to an underdog in what was a calculated marketing move...
Controlled? How?
It looked to me like Romero had Israel reacting to his movements constantly, took the center most of the time and had Israel spamming leg licks from the outside very timidly and getting taken down a couple of times.
For the record I thought Romero was going to win a split decision, however, for me this fight further solidifies a few unwritten rules:
- Judges aren't going to reward an apathetic / very low output performance like Romero's with a decision.
- On the other hand, the fighter that looks busier...
I disagree to an extent. I think the speed in the advances of information technologies and its mass adoption far outpaces the advances in other areas of technology where there hasn't been changes as dramatic.
Records aside what I think is relevant here is level of activity. If Cerrone really wanted to win this one he's got clear pathways. Take it to the ground, make this a war, bet on wearing out connor etc. The question is whether he's got that motivation or even more whether he's got an incentive...
It's a known fact that fighters make the most money as champions with or without fighting. So it only makes sense to stretch this status for as long as possible taking the least amount of risk possible. You'll see then "tactics" like hard balling negotiations, illness, injuries, surgeries and...
I think there were a couple of interesting bits in this fight despite how straightforward it looked for Khabib.
Dustin's couch (Mike Brown?) was saying to him to take the center. He did briefly at the beginning of round 2 and clipped Khabib, then he was so exhausted from round one that he...
In retrospective Breaking Bad was so enthralling, captivating, well acted, entertaining, amusing and suspense ridden that I've since been trying to find something similar to no avail. Quality of writing was very consistent and every move in the show was very well thought out and would provide...
What's disappointing is the lack of basic logic and consistency within itself, not the choices the writers could have decided for each story line. It really downgrades the original material quality. All this without losing sight we are talking about a tv show here, not about a major artistic...
