Yeah, too much mass on the frame, plus he is aging. For a guy who has never had exceptional stamina, it wouldn't be shocking for that to be the first thing to go as he gets into his 30s.
Yes and no. Cotto stood in way more in the first fight. While he also dealt a lot more damage, he got hit a lot more, even when he was easily winning rounds. Under Diaz in the second fight, he clearly wasn't willing to stand in as much and instead pot-shotted more.
I forget who it was, but I think me and someone here actually predicted this utterly terrible fight. Or at least the barebones of it. The Dirrells are back!
He's one of the few guys uniquely suited to a CW division. Most guys who are good and won HW belts around his size had great stamina and durability, but he arguably lacked both. Very good boxer with excellent power relative to size, but lacking that little bit extra.
I rewatched Hamed/Barrera a few months ago, and it wasn't as one-sided as I once remembered it. I think Hamed was always bound to burn out, regardless of whether or not he got soundly beaten by a better fighter. An amazing fighter to watch, but without the discipline or little bit extra of a...
It's sad that the best aren't allowed to fight the best in MMA. Ngannou got froze out by the only show in town. Maybe one day they'll aspire to boxing's model.
Vernon Forrest managing to lose twice to Mayorga when he did is still pretty shocking. Doesn't rise to the level of invalidating his whole career, especially considering some of his earlier wins, but most thought his career would have a much different trajectory.
I think some of underrating Bradley, as I could see him beating Thurman, Garcia and maybe Brook. Porter is a tough style matchup, but that would be very close for Bradley, too. Crawford and Spence are likely going to be looked at as the "best". Spence is the most accomplished at the weight as of...
Leaning towards Magsayo over the distance. I think Vargas will get hit too much in the first half and he doesn't have the power to capitalize on Magsayo slowing down in the second half.
Didn't see Vargas's only fight at FW and his inactivity is concerning. Magsayo has some good physical qualities, but is fairly limited, otherwise. Tough fight for me to gauge.
Lara could cause Leonard a lot of problems from the outside, but once Ray figured out that Lara couldn't hurt him, he'd walk Lara down, crowd him, and do some real damage. Lara shells up too much when he's crowded on the inside.
Tyson Fury, maybe the biggest bullshitter in the sport (it's part of his charm), isn't really the first guy I'd think of in terms of "saying it like it is." Sometimes he's candid; sometimes he's talking utterly absurd shit.
