I think the main reasons fighters dont tke the full 5 minutes - adrenaline levels drop dramatically in 5 minutes - your momentum can wane, if your winning not a good thing - your opponent is also resting, not a good thing if your loosing - shit starts to hurt (lower adrenaline levels)
