Hey bruv, I've asked about Mendez before on here, and nobody got back to me. I've been training at another place and busting my ass doing it, but training at mendez would be a lot easier for me because of the commute.
Can you by chance recommend me the Muay Thai trainers you mentioned, and...
How many hours to seriously develop striking capability though? If I did around 10+ a week, would that be optimal for serious improvements?
Would 5x a week cut it as well?
That's exactly what I do. I roll at at BJJ gym and train striking at another gym.
How many hours should I spend on my striking a week to get good? And can I do that same amount grappling?
Do you guys think that training BJJ, Luta Livre, No gi or wrestling takes away from becoming a good striker?
I try training Muay Thai 5x a week, BJJ around the same amount. Although I'm trying to become the best striker I can be. If I start training more during my lunch hours, would that be...
Yes but isn't that exactly what Canelo does? He's not out there bobbing and weaving like Tyson, his head movement is sublime, he's there until he's not there. And it happens so fast, even the very best can't keep up with him.
I remember reading one by Kickboxing planet a few years back, can't find it now. Does anyone have a copy of it saved somewhere?
Or any other writeups on him would be appreciated. He's my main influence.
Case in point, for me a truly great striker and someone I would try to emulate within the confines of MMA would be Albert Tumenov, if I wanted to develop a skill set like him (plus a ground game) what should my schedule look like?
Keep in mind, I'm not looking to compete. Just trying to become really skilled at those disciplines while getting myself into really good shape.
What do you mean by KB? Kickboxing? I was planning on supplementing my Muay Thai with boxing, I'm just afraid that my Striking won't be as good as it...
It's not so much classes as it is individual trainers, ie they're in there all the time and people are constantly coming and going. So there are no hard and fast rules.
With that said, do you think rolling at my BJJ gym 4-5x a week will detract from my growth as a striker? Or should I be good...
hi everyone, I'm just getting back into striking after taking years off, Mendez Boxing is right around the corner. I read on this forum, and checked on their IG page that they have a Muay Thai trainer there, can anyone here vouch for their kickboxing/Muay Thai?
Should I just take boxing there...
