Also Crushed a fully roided Pudz.
6'8" guys who have some mobility and striking don't grow on trees. As he got older the mobility went down and the injuries stacked up. Probably would have been better training somewhere other than Miletich where guys took so much damage.
Not sure why I thought of this, but plenty of people were high on Todd Duffee until he fought Mike Russow.
Aaron Pico was supposed to be the blue print for prodigy type fighters until he got subbed in his very first fight.
IIRC Sonnen addressed it in a podcast where he said the heel had to have some rules to their schtick. If you ever listen to Chael, he wouldn't swear or go after wives. He'd go after anything else. He'd make up stories. He'd generally have a comedic tilt to most of his stuff.
It should be proportionate to what they are bringing to the table. For UFC fighters, think of it like they are entertainers on TV, but the show is broadcast around the world. Nobody is crying when some mediocre actor from a stupid show makes $100K/episode.
Fightpass/darker fights- min 25/25K...
Hopefully it isn't the dreaded "stall" where DW doesn't let him do anything for a couple years. Possible his mobility is really messed up after the knee injury. Boxing might be the best for him.
Wouldn't be surprising at all to see De Ridder tap out Pereira or Izzy.
What good grappler has Pereira faced? Dude is a stud kickboxer, definitely could starch De Ridder or anyone he faces.
They want Manon to be a star and to emerge as the #1 contender. They've done the same for plenty of male fighters, so this shouldn't be too shocking. An argument can be made that the fight to closeout the ESPN card is more important than the first PPV bout anyway.
Women fighters have their place in the UFC and the sport in general.
WMMA is definitely lacking star power right now. Plenty that the UFC wanted to be stars (Dern, Ribas, Barber) have not quite panned out but still have plenty of fights left. Seems to be quite a few split decision type fights...
Really that is the only thing they should be worried about. Or the fighters unionizing, which could only happen with the title holders joining in.
What's always struck me as odd is that the athletes in the toughest, most physically demanding sports have the weakest unions. NFL gets crushed in...
He could be champion of something, just not the UFC.
That said, O'Malley's fights are typically entertaining and he seems to be having fun out there, so I'll keep rooting for him. High level grapplers will beat him though.
I was in high school in 1996 and my friends and I rented UFC 3 and 4 tapes from Family Video. 1+2 were out. We then kept renting until we'd seen all they had. Then we'd try some of the stuff during high school wrestling. Fun times. Then we kinda lost touch with it until 04'-05.
