Media “Jon Jones would’ve beaten Francis Ngannou” ~ Anthony Smith

Who would win if they were scheduled to fight next year?

Come on...if Jones had wrecked his knee in camp he would 100% have pulled out of he Gane fight.
Gane who btw made every striker look clueles, only won clearly one round against badly injured Ngannou.

Now for the style matchup: Jones has shown vulnerable to dirty boxing exchanges against DC. Ngannou is great at that

He also would have struggled in wrestling, early and late, because Ngannou has the basic skills, raw strength and stamina. Entries would be dangerous, and failed TDs would get punished.

He would have struggled in striking because Ngannou has the longest reach he has ever faced, power, chin.

Realistically, Jones path to victory would be to emulate Gane's gameplan with long range push kicks for 5 rounds and avoid getting caught. Or be real sneaky with the TDs and keep Ngannou down (not easy).

Lol first replies of thread pro Jon but the poll has Francis winning convincingly so far lol

Ha, Nubs

His boxing is pretty shite - and he has never been put in there with a modern "decent" boxer aside from Reyes, but his is more reliant on counter shots.

Aspinall and Ngannou - and to a lesser extent Pavlovich would all be interesting.
Cormier, Reyes, Gus, Vitor, Glover all had very solid boxing.

Wait the guy who works for the UFC is shilling for the UFC? Shocking. Next thing you know know you’ll be telling us that Cormier is shilling for the UFC or Shill Sonnen, who is back on the UFC broadcast.
yeah the guy who was so dismissive of Francis leaving UFC to go boxing saying he made a mistake he will regret and has D level boxing. No wonder so many fighters have beef against Anthony

It's fine.
But don't blind yourself.
Jones is 36, with lots of wear and tear, probably partially off the juice, and has looked less than impressive in his last fights at LHW against opponents who later crashed dramatically.
Sure he subbed Gane quick but that does not tell that much: Gane gifted him a super easy TD, then Jones was smart and opportunistic and Gane a bit clueless with the sub defense.

Ngannou is not Gane. Not the same skills, not the same strength, not the same dedication.

Deflecting from what? The truth? That every UFC employee always has the same opinion? Has the same talking points? What was that about fumbling the bag?
Lol don't even bother continuing to reply to the shill, you owned him already.

Ufc shills gonna shill

Company men like Daniel Cormier and Anthony Smith follow the company narrative because they are told so and paid for that.

Seeing how Ngannou handled Stipe's wrestling in the second fight, I don't see it going well for Pico Bones.

Going from taking elbows from one of the dirtiest GOAT HW boxer to taking eyepokrs from the dirtiest GOAT LHW

Honestly sounds about right but I could also definitely see Jones getting a submission W too. The gap between the two on the mat would be very wide

Francis would win and once again, people would be surprised that they didn't see it coming.

I sure as hell was surprised with his performance against Fury.

Against Jones? Would have loved to see it. Now it's just conjecture.

Jon probably wins 6 or 7 out 10. In a KO puncher against a much better grappler match, it's usually pretty foolish to bet on the KO puncher, even though occasionally they'll land the big punch.

Lets be real.

Francis would get taken down and there would be fuck all he could do about it.

"The guy that beat me, would beat everybody" - Because I'm proud to explain, I'm the second toughest kid in the school yard....
Has Smith ever said anything smart? Doubt it

I've learned a long time ago to never bet against Jones...

I can absolutely see Jones do to Ngannou what Stipe did to him the first time, in an even more dominant way (because he's a better grappler and wrestler)

Agree, and he’d probably give him a little window to escape and then take his neck (but in a safe way that doesn’t risk letting Francis on top of him).

You never know with a guy like Francis, one mistake and you’re toast. But I would favor Jones.

Both Jon and Francis have iron chins, but one is more skillful in different aspects of MMA than the other

Plus, Jones has been in car crashes before and has come out just fine. Why should he fear a Ford Escort?
