Never ducked a fight until he became champ. Now he's ducking entire divisions.

It only means something if he actually fights then loses.

As for MW, well the problem here is that Silva owned the division for so long in the UFC.

After that is Weidmann as champ with defences against Silva, Machida, and Belfort.

Then Franklin defended against Loiseau and Nate Quarry.

Just by beating Rockhold and defending against Hendo he probably has the 3rd best Resume already as a MW champ in the UFC.
