Add Michel to the most exciting fighters in the UFC

To bypass their legs and wind up in either side mount, or north / south position. It's not a technique to land a strike, it's about clearing over an opponents legs.
So because it wasn’t his intention to drop his entire body weight onto his opponents head, it shouldn’t be considered a foul?

It’s not about contact as much as impact. The shin impacted the head even if it wasn’t the primary point of contact. I find it similar to a groin shot. It doesn’t have to be the primary point of contact, but there is impact to the illegal spot.
But he wasn't throwing a "strike" as one does when landing a groin shot. He was passing guard.

That's up to the ref and commission.

Obviously they didn't feel it was an intentional strike, based on the fight being called a stoppage via submission.

I don’t think we define actions that way. Impact is impact. He can’t argue his intent, it’s judged by impact. If a fighter claimed a groin strike was an attempted trip and not a strike, would it not be a penalty?

We’ve had strikes that led to the fighter being unable to continue be considered unintentional. Ankalaev walker a recent one that comes to mind, and it was immediately stopped and walker was checked on. Poitieria didn’t get any time to recover and despite the clear illegal strike the Brazilian commission gave the Brazilian the win in Brazil

If he can make WW, we have to see Michel vs. Michael (Page).
