Ariel says it's Romero's camp holding up the fight being made official.

The commission doesnt own UFC...Cant they just make it for the belt anyway if Robert is fine with it?

The idea is to keep Whittaker on the card if Romero pulls out.

By putting him in a fight with a 205er?

That makes no sense.

I get what you're saying, but this comes down to a weight and commission issue.

Edit: And you must be a giant Rashad hater, cause Whitaker would hospitalize Suga.

He only got half the time alloted to make the weight, which he weighed in at 185, that .2 bullshit shouldn't even matter, you guys are so scared for Bobby Knuckles its atrocious. Fucking pussy ass bitch boys

So Romero was just 1 pound over and given 2 hours to make the weight, but then the commission said "hold up" after only 1 hour? That's some BS. At that point he was only .2 over the weight and had an additional hour to lose that small amount. He was clearly on his way to making the weight. NOW I don't think the hatred towards Romero is warranted. I can understand the disgust if he came in several pounds over, but not just one pound and then was clearly on his way to making the weight with the allotted extra time given.

Told you have 2 hours
Cut short by a whole hour when you are 0.2lbs away

Don't know how people can't see why he'd be angry and want an explanation

That's what his camp is claiming but when does a camp not spew bullshit. I'm waiting for a camp to say it's the worst he's ever looked before a fight

and don't reply with "rules are rules" bullshit, we get it, sherdog is full of nerds and there's like 928340982819273098909809 posts already saying "rules are rules" today.
It's not about the rules. It's about doing what you say you're going to do. He signed a contract with two different championship opponents and now twice in a row hasn't lived up to it while they managed to keep their word. Doesn't matter if it's .2 or 20 lbs. He said he would do something and then didn't. The contract with Rockhold and Whittaker was for 185 pounds. If he didn't feel like he could make that, he shouldn't have said he could. No one is forcing him to fight at 185. No one else screwed up his weight cut. All he had to do was keep his word or not give it in the first place, especially considering he just missed weight. That is all on him, so a dock in pay for him or any fighter who can't keep their word is more than fair.

<Huh2>

The commission has to sanction your event in order for it to be legal. That, and about 50 other reasons, make the answer no.

Not to mention he was cut off an hour early from making weight when he most likely would've.

Except he wasn't. He had a time set to weigh in, he didn't make the weight. It's his fault and only his fault. If only Dana had the balls to do something about it.

They could have told him to fuck himself after failing at the beginning.
But commissions always give more chances...If the policy was 1 time try, then yes you would be right, but that isn't their policy.

So no, commissions can't just take shit back like fucking kings/queens...There should be guidelines and standards.

He had 3 months notice to make make doesn't deserve an extra hour. Be a professional
They could've told him that since the beginning but they didn't they lied....That's bullshit.

Well if at any point during the 2 hours they deemed it unsafe to continue cutting. Then that's it by whatever rules they last issued no?

Only the fighters know the truth....If Whitaker is the one unwilling to accept, he will get what is coming his way.

I SERIOUSLY was gonna buy this event but without the main event, nope!
Its not Whittaker:

He's either in too poor of health to take the fight, or he just doesn't want to take a non-title fight.

It's his fault he's not eligible for the title. Don't see him having much leverage in this situation.

Good, f*ck him.

The UFC and commissions need to sort their shit out, because it seems like calls are being made on the fly under a cloud of mystery. Last week Jessica Aguilar was pulled under weird circumstances where we don't know what truly happened. Now this... wtf?

Doesn't add up. If he looked fine and was ok to cut the remaining 0.2, then there is no reason for him not to take the fight.

Maybe he is trying to get it rescheduled, but wonder Dana will feel about that and fucking all the fans over. Not like it's the first time though.

howd he fuck over fans before?

cutting weight for another 20-30 minutes to lose that weight is a LOT to have to recover from if you are already drained. Which is why the .2 matters for a title fight. What if in those .2 lbs of cutting his kidneys fail and he has to be hospitalized? Holding up to your end of the contract is to be expected. Whitaker made weight, Romero should have to as well. They could make it non title and if Romero wins just run it back for the title in a trilogy.

That said, he should have had the remaining time.

Too bad they don't have another middleweight to step up on the card...

... except maybe Rashad Evans?
holy shit imagine if they did that and rashad won ala bisping, he just catches whitaker. then everyone calls out rashad because they think its an easy win to be champ then he stalls so he can have the belt a little longer then they do another interim.
