I agreeHe seems more of a Henry Corrales or Justin Gonzalez type of first fight rather than Pico, IMO.

That is as good a late replacement from the regionals as you can get, I guess.https://www.mmafighting.com/2023/4/...ez-stepping-up-as-replacement-at-bellator-295
Aaron Pico has a new opponent for his return to the Bellator cage on April 22.
Pico was slated to face Otto Rodrigues in his first fight since injuring his shoulder against Jeremy Kennedy in October 2020, but he’ll now face James Gonzalez after the Brazilian withdrew due to injury, MMA Fighting has learned.
Gonzalez accepts the fight after previously pulling off a stunning upset over highly touted prospect Cody Law back at Bellator 282. Overall, Gonzalez holds a 10-5 record with four wins in his past five fights.
Bellator 295 will take place at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Hawaii and feature a bantamweight tournament final clash between Raufeon Stots and Patchy Mix in the main event.
Pico (10-4) was riding a six-fight winning streak with five finishes when he lost via injury to Kennedy, slowing his momentum and forcing the highly-touted featherweight prospect off action for nearly seven months.
Rodrigues (13-1) currently rehabs before re-scheduling his Bellator debut for later this year, looking to extend his winning streak to 13. The former Jungle Fight featherweight titleholder finished half of his previous 12 MMA bouts by way of submission.

I caved in and got a ticket to Bellator 295 on Saturday (I got a great seat at a decent price via StubHub). Since I’m a veteran, I might decide to attend Bellator 294 as well.
How did it go?Well I’m at the open workout for Bellator 294 & 295. Since I live in Waikiki and the public workout is at the Royal Hawaiian Center, I figured I go and check it out.
How did it go?
IDK man, looks like an extremely low turn out.
As always, I feel like the the lack of promoting played a role here. If a Bellator open workout happened a couple miles from my city, I would make an effort to go and meet Stots, Mix, Gucci, Pico, etc. But they hardly advertised it via social media. Stots vs Mix should be the biggest MMA Afight of the weekend but Bellator's lack of promotion makes it feel like some randomTbf if anyone turns up for a Bellator open workout that's a win.

BW fighting in Hawaii. Thats if people even realize the event is happening.
Sucks that Bellator hasnt made a bigger effort to promote them more. Their type of fighters that should be more promoted. Particularly Mix is a dynamic AF grappler that always brings it.Neither guy is a big name.tbf they do try a bit with Stots by getting him on the desk etc, he's just really cringe.
Can't remember them doing anything special to promote Patchy.
