I think that's why he's talking shit to Ngannou. He wants to retire not having lost in the cage at lhw. If he gets caught by Ngannou, it wasn't his weight class and he stepped up to fight a dangerous guy. There's really nothing to lose by moving up, however, I doubt he actually takes the fight.

Both have holes in their game that can be exposed and are not anywhere near as multi faceted in their approach. Not do they possess the same sort of athleticism, speed and youth which Dom has

Jones skills are still very much there but he's a bit slower and getting to the point where these younger guys are giving him problems


I would comfortably bet on Jones against both Ngannou and Stipe.

I think the bookies would have him as a respectable favourite as well

if he fights Dom again, that's just a close fight. There's no real hole for Jones to exploit except maybe cardio.

He's going to be ridiculously difficult to take and keep down, he will hang with him in the kicking game and has the superior boxing and he has youth / being a fighter with less miles on his side.

Jones could absolutely win that fight. But I think he's just as likely to lose it at this stage of his career. 50/50

Really, there couldn't be a better time to move up than right now.

jones can’t afford to retire. Lawyers fees, plus donations to the local DA’s diversion fund (or similar program) gets really expensive. That combined with numerous bastards and exorbitant spending will force Jones for the next 7-8 years.

Was he though? Jon clearly won the last 2 rounds and finished stronger. I'd hardly call him A beaten man, nor was that a decisive victory for either guy.

Jon's win over Santos was a lot more clear than people seem to think. Initially it seemed close but when you go back and watch it, he was in control the entire fight

His last fight wasn't a clear victory for either guy. It was close, could've gone either way and the champ finished stronger

No he won’t because Reyes is way more athletic and stronger than Gus, plus Jones kneed Gus so hard in the groin and fucked him up so he couldn’t continue, watch the fight! Jon is cheater inside and outside of the octagon and we’ll never know if he could win without cheating via dock pills or eye gouging or something like that!

Gus was a shell of himself at that point, he looked like absolute dogshit against Glover and Jan, he was absolutely done at that point and gave up very early on in the fight that Jones popped for

he hasn't changed since the Stipe fight


unless you're a fighter who is capable of stifling / neutralizing Jon's kicking game, you will have a very difficult time with him

there's a reason why so many fighters with a purely boxing based attack struggle

much power as Ngannou has, his hands are all you have to worry about. Throws the same punches in the same way every time. He's predictable. He has no wrestling or grappling to speak of and his cardio lasts all of 2 rounds

Dom Reyes is not predictable. he fights in a multi dimensional way and he is not an easy opponent anywhere the fight takes place.

If you're Jones, moving up and fighting the more limited, slower and older HW's is a lot more appealing than another likely close bout with Reyes.
