I'd say the thing isn't that one would say so about a fighter they were a fan of if the conversation moves to such a topic, but that they would not go out of their way to make a thread or solicit the subject.

"Look at how weak this fighter i am a fan of is, am i right guys?" That sort of thing.

Guess so. I couldn't imagine myself making a negative thread about one of my favourite fighters until there's something very obvious (for example in Conor's case recently, but there's plenty of Conor hater threads so there's no need for that). Maybe making the thread is a bit strange, agreed. But the opinion in itself isn't strange at all.
