So first Dana said a WW title shot vs Leon was offered to three people at 300. In a thread where Sherdoggers tried to predict who those three people were I was the only one who predicted them with 100% accuracy as seen here:

So can we now admit that Belal (by the far the most obvious contender in ANY division) will NEVER get a title shot? Not at 300, 301, 302, 312, or 412. He could win 50 more fights… it doesn’t matter. Personally I think they kill him off with a fake title eliminator fight vs Shavkat next. But if Belal won that they’d just make him fight someone else again or keep him inactive until he ages out.

Corporate PR accounts, please note before you post any of your trusty bullet points that you hope will catch on with the MMA plebs (ie: talk about decision wins) that I will point out that 0-wins-over-anyone-ranked and 0-finishes Colby fucking Covington just got a THIRD title shot in the same division.

Wouldn't say they would never give him one, it's just clear that they thought him vs Leon wasn't big enough to go on UFC 300.

Turn the UK card in the summer into a PPV with Aspinall vs Blaydes as the headliner and Edwards vs Muhammad 2 as the co-main, easy enough, no need to make it seem like such a big deal or build a whole event around them.

I feel bad for dude. The only fight he should accept next is for the WW belt. There have been plenty of less intriguing fights made; in terms of fighters who didn't move the needle, weight classes that were stagnant and uninteresting at the time, rematches. If Raquel Pennington Vs No Bueno Silva can be put together and happen, i see no reason why Leon Belal cant. Co-main it in England.

Otherwise, if i was Belal, i wouldn't accept any other fights and ask to b e let go. Or BETTER YET just phone in the remaining fights on his contract and make a fuckin' statement. Like what would happen if he just went out, walked into the octagon, didn't even engage, laid down in the octagon and tapped out. Surely they wouldn't risk booking another fight for him, they would just have him under contract without obliging him any. And at that time perhaps he could take it to court. "The precedent for title fights is X fighter maintains a win streak agasinst progressively tougher competition and eventually gets an opportunity to fight for the title. Just as one is entitled a raise in a regular job. If one doesn't get thst raise, he or she is allowed to seek other jobs. But this contract prevents me from doing so and is not adhering to standard work place practices."

After writing all this it seems crazy, im not an expert at the law nor do i think im really knowledgable on it, NOR DO I even particularly like Belal, but it just seems like a fucking injustice, and with no recourse for Belal because of the way the UFC OWNS it's fighters. ANd im not even including the cost of such an attorney and the years behind red tape it would take in my little scenario.

I would probably be labeled as a UFC shill on Sherdog, i don't mind Dana, I think the money UFC fighters make in this modern era is pretty damn good considering what a lot ofthe would be doing if they weren't pro athletes (and in a sport with a low barrier to entry compared to ANY other major sport) but this Belal thing pisses me off. Do better, UFC!
