Everytime he moved fwd, he broke Sean's rhythm and made it an actual fight. He let Sean operate from the outside the whole time. Smdh! He was just way too inactive. He got lucky with Frankie and Dom by finishing them late in fights he was losing. He's not gonna win at a high level that way.

You guys acting like that's an easy thing to do. O'Malley has the quickest feet and pivots we've ever seen in mma and he can crack to boot. Chito had to walk through hell to get to him and probably was already compromised by the time Sean slowed down a little by round 4.

Showed what you need to do against O’Malley but just didn’t do it enough. O’Malley doesn’t like exchanging or getting pressured. He wants to keep it pretty and pick you off at distance, which he is very good at. You gotta walk through that to get to him though. Other fighters will take note of this though.

Sean Strickland showed the framework on how to beat technical snipers.

Move forward with push kicks and fight on the fence.

Chito did that a few times (and it worked) and then let Sean find his rhythm again. He has shocking fight IQ

This. 100%.

Chito tried his best with the tools he had. O'Malley was just better.

And regardless, it was winnable for Chito for 25 minutes. He needed a finish and he almost hurt Sean on like 3 different occasions (combo, flying knee, body shit).

Many different opponents or even O'Malley himself on a different night could have succumbed to one of those shots.

The problem with Chito is he's a just a journeyman fighter with no special attributes. He's not known for his power, wrestling, submissions, striking...nothing. He just fights and has a good chin. For guys like that to win at an elite level, they almost have to get lucky.

I remember years ago someone was talking about the end of specialists in MMA and since everyone just trains "MMA" now, you're going to have a roster full of guys that just know the basics of MMA but aren't really exceptional anywhere. We've reached that point where UFC is just filled with "MMA Guys" that don't stand out.

I’m still convinced if Chito actually fought he would’ve won. Sean looked so shaky every time Chito landed anything.

the flipside of that is that Sean was connecting so easily against a defensive and tentative Chito.

If you up your offense/aggressiveness 100% you just leave yourself even more vulnerable.

And Chito started eventually landing because he took that 1st round to download Sean's timing and patterns.

I'd say it's about 50% salt and 50% not knowing what they are watching.

This lol.

Suga's best weapon is easily his movement and feints.

Chito has been able to consistently close the range with most of his opponents. He had next to no chance against Suga though.
