Weight over measure.

Learn this early on and your foods will thank you.


Eventually you may get to the point of where you can more/less eyeball it but weight is king.
Get a scale.

And NOT the one you use when your dealer comes over.
 
This is an old thread so I’m assuming you’re a chef by know, but don’t neglect learning proper knife techniques and using the right knife for the right job. Proper and efficient prep will make cooking a lot easier.

my wife to this days still cuts everything with a steak knife and it drives me bonkers. Absolutely murders tomatoes.
 
Find a food YouTuber you like, try out one of his recipes.

Keep on trying it until you get it right. Move onto another recipe.

I have posted about him before, but Chef John from Food Wishes is great.

He is very straight forward yet entertaining, and if you have any questions about a video, you can check his blog for more info.

I started with his rice dishes and progressed into his meat and fish dishes.





Bro, I love Chef John. Some dishes I posted here were from him. Horrible at coming up with recipes myself, but I can follow directions well.
