When it comes to abortion, there seems to be a disconnect between the GOP party leadership, and GOP voters.

I have a feeling there are a lot more pro-choice Republicans out there than the Party leadership is willing to admit.

Its the reverse. The gop leadership knows its a losing issue. They are afraid to say anything because they are afraid of offending the evangelical base. The republican base is older white males. I have family that lives in Kentucky and they like Beshear. He did well with COVID, Natural Disasters, Mass Shooting Incident and separated himself from Biden. He ran his own race and it paid off.

Other than having the police track license plates for people going to church he did fine. Well that and keeping schools closed while his kids were going to private school. Cameron’s education plan was good but everything else was either platitudes or not something I agree with.

This. The gap between their base and the majority of Americans has grown. So if they want to win general elections they need to moderate their positions on social issues like abortion rights. But if they do that they'll get shredded in any primary down the line by a more fanatical challenger.
