EDIT: (WITH VIDEO)Fedor sparring with Hesdy Gerges. Looking old.

Looking terrible on the ground as well. Poor base in half guard, completely blind to/ or unable to get underhooks which would prevent the sweep. Instead Fedor posts his hands on the mat like a noob and gets swept and nearly leg locked. There is no doubt in my mind that if Fedor goes to the ground with Mir he will get submitted. Insane because this was once a guy with a fantastic ground game, defensive posture and top control. Now he moves on the mat like a white belt.

Not looking good at all.

Relax pessimistic. Hope for the best. It's the GOAT we're talking about.

Fedor is my favorite fighter ever but its frustrating watching him train like this. He looks terrible.
Bro you're my favourite bro ever. Just shut up. He's 41. But he's still the greatest MMA fighter of all time and all our lifetimes, and may still win the tournament emphatically.

The stand up looks to me like they are both laughing and clowning around, looking at Fedor's shirt this is probably the last couple of minutes of a solid hours sparring, same with ground work, neither fighter seems overly serious about it.

Come, now. His head-movement looked really good about 40 seconds into that video.

Wow Fedor looks like SHIT on his standup. Granted Hesdy Gerges is a former It's Showtime heavyweight champ but Fedor looking like he's declined significantly. Fedor looks like a gassed out journeyman. I got Mir by ko by knee to the head.

This is sad. FedGOAT isn't supposed to be competing at this stage.

Can we just feed CM Punk to him?

me if/when Mir beats fedor,

A great champion that is become shot. It happened to everyone soon or later in every sport and martial arts. An ugly defeat would finish to tarnish his legacy..better open an accademy , doing wrestling , acting , the World is still full of opportunity for him

Legend has it the heavy bag reflecting in the mirror is still swaying after Fedor hit it.

In all seriousness Fedor has to preserve his body during training. We don’t know the context of this footage. This could be fun sparring after warmup, mit work, heavy bag and grappling.

Do we expect Fedor to look good against a 7 years younger, 7 inches taller, pure standup fighter?

Its not about looking good, its about looking ready. Physically fit, with good movement, balance and endurance of an athlete who had a serious camp. The footage doesnt reveal that to me.... And Fedor is my favorite fighter and I think hes the GOAT but he looks downright terrible for a guy who has a big fight in 10 days.

edit:

Unless Fedor is playing the old "possum" trick pretending like hes old, slow and washed up so that Mir takes him lightly then maybe I can understand what is shown in these videos. But even then, Mir is the type of guy to train harder because of that being the opportunist that he is.

Fair point, I was just wondering how much of it is the giant, (relatively) young striking specialist making Fedor look worse.
