Media Fedor made mistakes in grappling that GSP or Jones would never make

Yeah, I don’t recall Jones or GSP pulling moves like this off.

Fedor was great at some aspects of MMA but not the others. The OP and this reply are both correct. What that comes down to is well roundness.

What makes Jones and GSP (and MM) to stand out from others is how well they do against all kinds of opponents. No aspect of MMA gives them trouble. And even if they are not great at something, they never put themselves in a situation where that is going to be a problem.

The vast majority of Fedor's subs is that type of armbar. CroCop was able to KO every second opponent with a left high kick. Nog was able to sub almost anyone while not having a great grappling competition record like Werdum or Jacare. This is a common theme about PRIDE. Fighters were good but they were not nearly as well rounded as modern fighters. The training camps were not the same. But you can be a specialist who is successful. Someone like Ronda or Royce (extreme examples) still had a great record. But such specialists are always getting figured out sooner or later unlike fighters such as GSP or Jones.

I also do not see GSP or Jones throwing wild hooks just because they are faster than the opponents. They set up strikes with grappling and timing.

You speak like both styles are equivalent. They are not. Fedor’s brawling style is inferior and requires far less skill to utilize, it would also fail against high level competition as it has shown.

Would you like the OP to have stated that Jones and GSP had superior styles so they won’t make mistakes like Fedor’s brawling style which tends to lose against high level competition?

This is kind of moot because his style left him undefeated for like a decade. Times change, styles evolve, fighters don't, and they get old. Tis MMA. Every sport experiences this to a degree.

Jones was an evolution of Fedor's time period. GSP kind of fell in the middle, but he was also ahead of his time in a lot of ways which is why he did so good and only got caught twice in his career by the WW GOAT and Serra, still fairly early in his career.

I don't think we'll ever see a Karate Kid without true combat sport experience (kickboxing, boxing, wresting, etc) fighting the GOAT of their weight division in their 8th professional fight again.

Although Fedor would never be put down at will like AS against Chael Sonnen or other wrestlers or fighters he fought. But yeah, Jones and GSP have superior wrestling than Fedor.

I love how TS keeps chiming in trying to defend his super noob views. Your clearly new to mma and know nothing and should stfu, but keep it up, this is classic. It's entertaining, thanks.
