Some. The rapier and dagger books looks like thfy assumed that fighters would be unarmoured, since those were weapons most likely to be used in a duel/self defense situation

Edit: I'm in no way saying that grappling an armed guy should be your first response. Rather, I think that grappling skills can help in escaping an attack or mitigating the damage done if that attack occurs.
