Grappling Needs to start involving Guns

Wasn't a lot of that stuff dependent on being heavily armored?

Some. The rapier and dagger books looks like thfy assumed that fighters would be unarmoured, since those were weapons most likely to be used in a duel/self defense situation

This links pretty interesting.

Edit: I'm in no way saying that grappling an armed guy should be your first response. Rather, I think that grappling skills can help in escaping an attack or mitigating the damage done if that attack occurs.

Anyone who grapples with me is grappling with guns.

My guns.

Boom.

I was watching Hunger Game the other night and grappling needs to start involving archery.

Grappling needs to involve multiple armed body guards. Otherwise it is ineffective garbage.

I think it would be cool if they did submission wrestling in armor. Sometimes you lose your sword in battle so it probably happened many times in history. It would add a cool element. You could cross face a guy and give him a face full of chaonmail.
