Of course but there are extents of fear, i don't think you can compare locking a door to carrying a lethal weapon.
It's simply situation dependant and is not meant as an affront to gun owners.
You can argue there are extens of fear, sure, but how do you quantify it? What level on the fear scale does "locking your door" register at? At what level does "concealed carry" register at?
It's all a matter of emotionally-invested personal opinion, really, as to what constitutes "living in fear" and what doesn't. There's no objectivity to what actions are below the "living in fear" threshold and which are above. I could easily say that, since I don't lock my door at night, that all you guys are living in fear and I'm not, at which point we have to agree that this is a pretty subjective argument.
