Opinion I am the reason the left will lose HUGE in the mid-terms.

Balls in your court rational democrats.

If more of you refuse to back this ridiculousness like TS, your party might actually be salvageable so as to actually pursue changes that matter
What do you mean "refuse to back the ridiculousness"? Just stay home and let the GOP win? Sorry mate but that's a dumb idea, why would I refuse to vote for the dumb party only to let the dumber party win? Most of you guys will happily go out and vote for the GOP despite it being a morally and intellectually bankrupt party because you see it as the lesser evil. Great, I see it the other way around so I'll vote Dem at the federal level despite the cringe because the alternative is worse.

If anything the party members that I see as the problem are the right wing, obstructionist ones like Manchin and Sinema who blocked polices that would help working and middle class families like the expanded child tax credit.
The OP is a great example of how a few examples of something can be used to convince people that the exceptions are the rule.

Seriously, how many transgender twerking parades or whatever are out there? How many people are actually calling all police murderers or whatever? How many protests resulted in violence compared to how many were peaceful? How many city blocks are actually dominated by homeless people compared to how many are not? I could go on but the point would be the same.

Far too often, we get spoonfed the worst example of something and then the media and social media cycle rinse and repeat the same thing over and over again until people are convinced that these examples are the norm. It's something that I've been paying attention to since I was old enough to watch the news. Every news cycle would show some innocent person getting killed. And if there wasn't an innocent person in my neighborhood, they'd use a story from 2 cities over. Watch it long enough and you'd start to believe that innocent people were being gunned down all the time all over the country when it simply wasn't true.

Vote how you want to vote. But please try to remember that the images and stories we get fed through social and mainstream media are not the complete story, they are inevitably the worst examples of our world exaggerated to suggest they are the norm.

Be safe out there.
Well we've always had low info voters like TS so in fairness that has to be accounted for by the major parties.

People like TS who vote based on feelz are always going to be out there, its just bout someone how reaching them at their level of intelligence.
A good ol fashioned how I left the left Tim Pool style Right wing circle jerk.
I think most of those types weren't really committed to their political beliefs as much as they were following political fads. Obama was very charismatic and popular so he was able to get lots of votes from low info voters like TS because he made his brand of politics fashionable. Now its the populist right that has that cool edge so the same low info voters flock to them.

In reality people with serious principles and beliefs don't make 180 changes. Sure changing one's mind is natural and expected but flipping completely with slight changes of the wind suggests you were never really serious about your beliefs.

And beyond, if they don't change their ways... Because millions of people just like me will refuse to support their ideology that has gone off the rails and directly into crazytown.

For as long as I can remember, I've been a staunch liberal. Here's what I realized recently: The left takes things way too far.

I'm in favor of police reform... But defending the police and labeling them all murderers, racists and cowards is absolutely ridiculous.

I have nothing but love and respect for the LGBTQ community, and I wish them all a happy Pride Month. But I don't want kids at a drag show where sexually suggestive signs are up and those ladies are twerking. Nor do I want my child reading pornographic material in middle school because everyone is too afraid to call it what it is for fear of being labeled a bigot.

I do my best to understand the plight of the un-housed. I think there should be far more social programs to mitigate what I see as a national crisis... But allowing them to take over entire cities and turn it into a warzone that looks like a third world country and isn't safe for anyone is far from the answer.

I stand with anyone that identifies as trans-gendered. I think it takes a lot of courage and strength to live one's authentic self and wish all adults or even those close to adulthood a happy, safe journey in that regard... But allowing little children to pick their identity and/or giving them hormone therapy? Absolutely unacceptable.

I support the BLM movement completely... But taking over swaths of entire cities, fire-bombing police stations and hurting people does nothing for this cause.

I believe Climate Change is a real thing. The evidence is overwhelming... But to punish Americans and make them do the heavy lifting which may or may not change a thing while other countries have zero interest in doing the same.... is unfathomable to me.

I understand that we have a higher incarceration rate than nearly anywhere else and think this should be looked at and solved. But allowing soft on crime prosecutors to take over is absolutely bullshit. And heaving the Squad talk about abolishing prisons makes me want to vomit.

I believe in immigration and think that immigrants were and are the backbone of our country... But understand that there needs to be a process. People are just flooding into our borders and anyone that says this could be problematic is deemed a racist. Absolutely ridiculous.

There are so many people just like me that are tired of this nonsense, and will abandon the left now, that I think it will spell real disaster for what was once a reasonable party with a lot of good ideas and frankly, the moral high ground. Now it's a cesspool of wokeness where idiocy rules and everything is racist, sexist or homophobic.

Honestly, I hope the left learns a hard lesson.
You are speaking for many. Good post.

The reason Democrats will lose in the mid terms is because the president's party almost always loses ground in the midterms.

IIRC since 1946 the president's party gained in only 1 midterm election in the House.

You don't have to stay home and let the GOP win. You just have to be willing to point out how retarded your sides platform has become. Sounds insignificant, but collective social/online rhetoric is what got you all into this position to begin with. If enough of you spoke up it could make a difference, as opposed to just standing ideally by while your entire party gets hijacked by mentally-ill hoards on twitter. The politicians, save a few extremes will fall in line eventually.

Great post.
Good points that reflect the views of many.
I went from Independent, to firmly on the Right.
The Democrats were a great party, now they are the party of groomers and perverts.

They remind me of the girlfriend who breaks down and cries "you don't love me!" when you mention she messed something up. Like any criticism means the end of the world. Gotta walk on eggshells because they're so damned fragile. So even pointing out how they've lost their way in some instances means the end of the relationship, which makes it near impossible to implement changes from within.

I'm not American but amen brother. Well said.

Bingo. Part of our duty as citizens is to speak up and make sure that our politicians actually represent us & support our interests, which means we need to actually engage with them and not just cry about it on anonymous internet forums. If your party is doing dumbass shit, you need to make that known to the party reps and tell them to cut it out or else. And if that doesn't work then you need to step up your actions until your voice is heard. But that's too much work & effort for average people so guess who the parties cater to? The loonies who do have the motivation and put in the effort to push their agendas.

I do that all the time but that's not what the TS is calling for, at the very minimum he's calling for people to not vote for Dems and if anything he's implying he'd vote against them. But if you really care about things like climate change and wealth inequality it doesn't make any sense to vote for the GOP or regurgitate their talking points.

Besides my issues with the Dems are not exactly the same as the ones you guys have. My issue is with DINOs like Manchin and Sinema who block good policies like the expanded child tax credit. But people on the right support those two for obstructing the agenda of the POTUS.

I have issues with the cultural stuff but that battle is not won at the ballot box.

You specifically do point out some of the BS, I realize that. I guess I was really just referring to the general majority of rational dems that don't.

But to your point, right now as in the mid terms it may actually work in your favor long term to send them a message by not voting. I didn't vote for trump the 2nd time. It feels like a lot of rational conservatives didn't

I made that mistake in 2016 by not voting Clinton, definitely not going to repeat it this time around for such a crucial election.

The economy will be a bigger factor come election day than any political wedge issue.

When all is said in done, it will be gas prices, weakening buying power, and pessimism of our financial future that will determine how people will vote.

However, as @HOLA stated above, the president's party losing seats in Congress during midterms is the norm, not the exception in the past century.

To that point though, there are losses, and then there are LOSSES. I think the Dems are in for the all caps loss.

That said, it could be a blessing in disguise for them, as they will have someone else to blame for this shit that ain't gonna get better, no matter who is in charge. This is some baked in shit that won't be corrected overnight, and all the people will have are pompoms to wave.

The left has pushed it to a point where there's little room for any nuance or discussion or differing opinions, and it's a problem. For what it's worth, the right is the exact same.

"Sucks the fun and life out of everything".

They are basically the Christians from the 50s and 60s or whatever. They behave exactly like religious puritans. Which is essentially what they are. But instead of proving themselves to God, as they would've been doing 50 years ago, these people are now devoting their lives to proving themselves to their 'fellow man'. It's just a modern version of 'holier than thou'.

Very apt analogy. Never made that comparison... but it's a good one

Very apt analogy. Never made that comparison... but it's a good one

They've come up with several flavours of original sin to boot - cis-hetero normative white male blah blah blah. They frame it in terms of "oh, it's not a transcendental or essential property which you can't escape like those nasty Christians... It's a product of nested power structures and system factors which you participate in - and cannot escape, so you're branded by them for life." One of those "distinctions without a difference" things - the person they've slapped that scarlet letter on is still defined by something about them, literally forever. Better abase yourself before the intersectional mother gaia or whatever.

This right here, is why the Left will lose badly.
Thanks for pointing out the typo, to wit, not an irreversible result. But lose what, and badly how, remain the unanswered questions, bitch tits.
