I like to Lift

Where do you guys place your hands on the bench? Right now my ring finger is on the smooth ring.

A guy at my gym mentioned to me about 2 years ago that my OHP hand poition looked too wide. I bought the hands in and felt so much better. I feel like my bench press is too wide. I'm going to give a more narrow grip a go. When I do my CGBP I feel much more poweful out of the hole with a narrow grip. I can keep my elbows in tight and my back and lats stay looked down. Anyway, just a thought.

Also this same guy asked why I benched so wide...

1/4" from the start of the knurling. I hate gripping anything wide, and in the case of the bench press it's for the reasons you mentioned. Shit stays in place, elbows stay tight, less chance of injury.

I'm a bit of an exception in that I've never seen anyone consistently bench as narrow as I do. I just figured I'd throw it out there to give you an idea... you might dig it. Obviously my chesticles are lacking.

Just add some peck deck, brah!

My training partner benches much more narrow than I. He's a lot bigger than me too.

For me it's also the ring finger on the mark, but it depends on your proportions. I aim for vertical forearms at the bottom like this:

Felt flat today. But squat moved fast. No issues. On to 325x5.

I haven't done much accessory work on my squat these few weeks. Think I'm going to get some more heavy bench squats in next session.

Nice set of PRs, but to echo belph - bench squat?

FWIW I bench a thumbs length from the smooth on the bar. Doing this added around 10kg to my bench instantly - better leverages.

Caused more elbow tuck but everything just felt "glued in" more.

Once I reset my work for the next cycle on this program I'm bringing my hands in.

Same here. Although I am slowly getting my shit together on bench, this grip stuck.

Thanks guys!

Maybe I can start making my bench not suck.

Its been a solid 8 weeks. I have put on close to 30 lbs on my training max for my squat. I started with a 295x4 and so far was able to hit 325x3 with some left in the tank. Yesterday I was probably a little premature about going for 325x5, had I waited a day I would have likely hit it. Monday's triple was fast. Friday I deadlift, and I might reset my maxes and continue this ride on Monday.

De-pussified my training.

srs though, Squat variants have helped.
