Social Is it homophobic to find two men kissing or having sex in movies off-putting?

relaionships?

you sure about that there lil buddy?
Yea I am dummy.

“a handful of animal species practice true monogamy--defined as pair bonding between a male and female, which exclusively mate with one another, raise offspring together and spend time together.”

No, your point was animals can’t have relationships. You’ve abandoned that and taken the L from me.

Now you’re claiming the only kind of relationships animals can have is sexual monogamy. Another whiff.

“Whatever makes a pair of animals socially monogamous does not necessarily make them sexually or genetically monogamous. Social monogamy, sexual monogamy, and genetic monogamy can occur in different combinations.”

I think finding it off-putting isn't really a big deal, its how you handle it. I find the smell of Clove cigarettes very off-putting, but I'm not going to lose my s**t if I see/smell someone smoking them, treat them like they're subhuman and demand legislation or changes be made in society to ban them.

The usage of "phobia" as a catch-all suffix has been warped to mean "anything other than outright and unequivocal acceptance" by extremists and basically eliminates the ability to have reasonable discourse about any topic its used for.

gay relationships

dude, you should pick a different argument

Researchers have observed species that regularly participate in life long same sex relationships.

That triggers you so why would I abandoned it?

Doesn’t fit my definition of homophobic, but I do think finding 2 men kissing/having sex gross is purely a social construct. I don’t think anyone is born with this aversion. I think it is a learned revulsion.

It's certainly socially reinforced but I think it's pretty clear people are born with inherent biases. I don't think many people would agree that sexual preference is something that's entirely learned after birth.

you posted an article about two STRAIGHT animals

I’ve posted sources that detail numerous species that have same sex relationships.

Then you argued animals can’t have relationships.

I proved you wrong and you took the L.

Then you implied sex was the single characteristic that defined animals relationships and I proved that wrong.

Two animals that choose to spend their lives together and raise young together have a relationship.

If one of them mates with another member of it’s species to get pregnant but continues its life and raising said young with their life long same sex partner, the same as a gay couple using a surrogate, the relationship still exists.

I treat it like Dr. pimple popper

I don't give a shit about the backstory, I just fast forward to the medical procedure.

I just watch lesbian pornos so that never happens

I don't have evidence of whether it is nature or nurture. I'm concerned that sone people may use the nature argument as an excuse not to try to overcome the societal bias.

To be clear, I didn't mean to suggest that sexual preference is entirely learned after birth. I suggested thay revulsion to someone else's practice is learned.

I would hope just because one is born heterosexual it doesnt necessarily follow that one must be repulsed by a different practice (for instancr, on screen in a movie they otherwise thought was a good idea to see).

The best analogy you had for homosexual activity was eating sh*t. Damn.

There's no question many of our revulsions are learned.

Marrying your cousin.
Massive age gaps.

I think it's the other way around. Little kids find all adults kissing gross, they are conditioned to accept what is traditional over time.

Ask a 5 year old what they think about kissing.

Of course young children have no sexual drive, but once you come of age sexually, there are definitely predispositions. No doubt society can condition you in different ways but we are also born with tendencies that only manifest later in life.

I do think it's fairly natural to have some form of aversion to many things, opposite sexual preference being one of them. I agree that society heavily reinforces it and makes the situation much worse than it should be, but I don't know why people expect there to not be any naturally arising unpleasantness from seeing certain things.

Aversion is a basic part of being human. Without it, we don't survive as a species. I don't believe that what we have aversion to is entirely socially constructed. What separates us is that we also have intelligence and qualities like acceptance, kindness etc. We can differentiate between what makes us have unpleasant feelings and what we should be prejudiced against.

Personally, I think the first step in overcoming a lot of these issues is to just acknowledge the unpleasantness for what it is and see that there's no reason to react with anger, fear etc.

In terms of humans, yes. I dislike the comparisons to beasts in this thread

I once witnessed a dog mount his own mother.

I had to clock him over the head with a Holy Bible to achieve separation
