Again, one cannot regard the Russians as being a rational people. They don't think the same way as us.

Russia is far more predictable and rational that the US by far.

Don't fall victim to propaganda. Putin is defending Ukraine from being swallowed up by the west and that is it. They already saw biolabs and CIA bases in Ukraine over the last 10 years. The coup in 2014. The corruption, they've seen enough.
 
Has anyone got info on whether it was a diplomatic compound or just some building next to the embassy. I assume they were using the place never thinking anyone would do something this reckless. The image I saw shows the Iranian embassy is next to the Canadian embassy. In many countries the foreign embassies are usually all in one neighborhood. The risk of hitting diplomatic buildings is too risky so these Iranians thought they were good. Or it is a massive screw up by Israel that they are going to have to own. You don't strike diplomats or their embassies or consulates it is terrible for business unless your crazy like the Taliban.

The consular section is still a part of the embassy.

It's where visas are issued, citizen support, and paperwork like that is conducted.

The consular section is where you would most likely have non diplomatic personnel would be(like visitors). But, the consular officers will be on diplomatic status

Israel has confirmed that it has targeted Iranian groups in Syria repeatedly since last year. They will be a retaliation and Israel will be defending itself on the northern border and their embassies around the world. They will get hit in a backwater country that can't do anything about it security wise. Most of the dead will be citizens just walking by when the attack happens.

Whether it was the ambassador's residence, or a parking garage, it's still diplomatic property.

One would assume that Israel would expect a response from Iran.

How will Iran respond? How will Israel respond to the response? What does the US do?

At least 36 Syrian soldiers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on an area near Hezbollah weapons depots in Syria’s Aleppo province, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has said.

The Syrian defense ministry is saying civilians were among the dead, while Reuters is reporting that the strike killed five Hezbollah members.

“The aggression resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of civilians and military personnel and caused material losses to public and private property,” the Syrian defense ministry said in a statement.

Why is Israel attacking Syria? Since civil war began in Syria in 2011, Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes on targets there as it seeks to cut off the Hamas ally Hezbollah’s supply routes to Lebanon. The frequency of these strikes has increased since Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza began after the 7 October attacks. While Iran-backed Hezbollah is Lebanese, it has sent militants into Syria to support its ally, President Bashar al-Assad.

What has Israel done to combat Hezbollah in Lebanon? Israel has exchanged near-daily, cross-border fire with Hezbollah in Lebanon since the Gaza war began, creating fears of a major regional conflagration. An Agence France-Presse tally estimates that at least 346 people have been killed in Lebanon – mostly Hezbollah fighters, but also including at least 68 civilians – in clashes with Israel over the past six months.

This is disturbing. WW3 is looking closer than ever.

United States needs to cut its ties with Israel because they are going instigate a global conflict.

The only thing Russians have contributed to the world are vodka(inferior to Whisky)and the AK47(inferior to the AR-15).
