Josh Thomson did in 8 minutes what Conor couldn't do in 30.

Josh Thomson, a fighter that has never been known for his power, was able to not only stop Diaz, but get his corner to throw in the towel in under 3 rounds with strikes. Conor couldn't do this with 2 chances and over a half hour's worth of fighting. Yet we're led to believe Conor has "once in a lifetime" power. I don't get it. Conor has a strong left hand but nothing we haven't seen many times before. He's a great marketer but he's going to fall hard. And very soon...

The anti Conor apologetics always gets desperate here.

Finishing Nate Diaz has never been easy for any opponent, so it's not some low bar that anybody can reach....Thomson had a perfect head kick and it was a TKO.

RDA couldnt do it, McGregor, who came from FEATHERWEIGHT remember, was able to knock Nate down a few times and outstrike him.

Exactly my point. Knocking down Diaz is seen as some badge of honor from Mcgregor fans when a guy not known by any stretch to be powerful, KO'd him.

Has Diaz ever beat a pretty boy?

You may be the only person in existence to consider Guida and Rory pretty boys.

No, it's significant because Diaz hardly ever gets dropped from a strike, PERIOD. This is one of the few instances.

And there are always perfect shots, Thomson is not as powerful as McGregor.

Also, the Thomson_Diaz fight should never be discussed without pointing out that Thomson's great win was marred by him making "bitch ass lady sounds" throughout the fight.

Nate Diaz has stepped up to much bigger opponents like Rory MacDonald, Benson Henderson, Josh Thomson all who would absolutely murder Conor McGregor with ease.

McGregor has fought nothing but noticeably smaller opponents. His only fight with opponent of equal size was Nate who finished him first fight and was about to finish him 2nd fight if it were 30 seconds longer.

Your obsession with McGregor taints your vision of reality.

A young, healthy Thomson is better than all those fools.

Yup. Weird how Conor fans act like knocking Diaz down somehow proves he has godlike power when Thomson KO'd him and he is a known wrestler with limited, if any, power.
So no one Nate Diaz fought other than Thomson has power?

So?

Conor did in 3½ years what Thomson couldn't do for 16 years - win a belt in the UFC, three to be exact. Interim FW title, official FW title and LW title.

He also set numerous records, some that will likely never be broken. Now he's about to face one of the best boxers ever and take home 100 million.

How about we bring up Frankie finishing Mendes quicker than Conor did as if it means something, hmm?

Please, tell us more about what Thomson has done that's so amazing in comparison to what Conor has done.

Thomson (prime or not) would be KO'd stiff by Conor, easy.

<DisgustingHHH>

That's kind of my point. Mcgregor fans act like dropping Nate is proof of power while no one thinks the guy who KO'd him has any power.

he timed an excellent headkick. If you want to make the argument that Josh Thompson's roundhouse kick to the head is better timed and stronger than Conors roundhouse kick to the head, then sure. Striking encompasses a lot more then high roundhouse kicks though, and most effective strikes landed tend to be punches to the head, where Connor has a definite power advantage. Also has more power in his low kicks from what I've seen

Conor did in 17 seconds what Josh couldn't in a whole entire career: win a UFC belt. Then he won another...

Strange argument.
Do you think a fighter has to knock people out in every single fight for them to earn their reputation as one of the most powerful strikers? o_O
Do you use the same logic in all other sports too?
That's like saying "Oooh, everyone says the Mario Lemieux was one of the best hockey players. But hey, one time Pittsburgh played Toronto and Mario didn't even get a point! Meanwhile, when played Toronto this other guy scored a hat trick!"

Seems kind of strange to say that if you don't perform excellent in every single game you're not all you're cracked up to be.
How about looking at the overall performances across multiple games instead?

{<huh}

Never heard anyone say he has "once in a lifetime power". Did you just make this up?

It's been talked about on Serra's podcast.
Apparently paraphrased from Mark Henry (coach of Frankie Edgar and Eddie Alvarez)

Conor is literally just the embodiment of hype and that's it
