Kingdom Come Deliverance

I just realized there are no children in this game, and that's incredibly weird. I guess making children unkillable would break immersion much more than simply not having them. And you know edgelords would try to do it if they were in the game.

They touched on the fact it's illegal to make kids killable in games in Europe, so they opted to just get rid of them all together. I personally have the killable kids mod on Skyrim cause it makes it more immersive.

Enjoying this quite a bit.

It starts really slow, like way too slow, and takes about 5-6 hours to really pick up depending on how you pace yourself.

Once it gets more open and you start getting some good equipment it's a lot of fun. The assault missions and the build up to them are incredible.

The save game system really isn't a problem once you get used to it. You don't even need the potions you just need to know how to use the sleep system to save.

Renting a bed for one night costs 2 gold to save, cheap even at the start of the game. If you rent a bed for a couple of nights it's like you rent the room forever and can save there whenever you want. This will cost you around 150-200 depending how good at haggling you are. Also, your chest in that room is shared with all the rooms you own, though really you should invest in a better horse and saddle to make life a lot easier.

There is another mod that makes lockpicking automatic if you have a certain skill level.

So for example at level 0-6 you automatically lockpick chests that are marked very easy, and so on.

I really wish people would stop uploading "Reshade Presets" as mods...

Plate armor turns you into tank man. It's pretty good.

After roughly 38 hours in the game and at the final Quest I can say I'm pretty much done with KCD until the mod tools are released.
It was a well made game that didn't really deliver on is hype. If it hadn't have been hyped up it would go down as a niche classic. The developers did well hoodwinking a huge audience into buying it, hell some didn't even know what it was about and just bought it because of the hype.

Once modding tools are released you can bet your ass I'll be creating weapons and armours like I did for fallout and skyrim but until then bon voyage KCD

It didn't have a lot of hype, and the marketing was basically non existent.

It's already blowing away Witcher 3, Skyrim, etc. on the steam charts. It has far, far usurped it's hype, and marketing, and gone from a niche classic to an all-time-PC-great, and one of the most played RPG's on the largest PC platform in existence.

It's been an incredible thing to witness, and I'm still in shock how absolutely huge this games impact has been.

Brand new games blows away games from 3 and 7 years ago. What a surprise, you've picked one thing I said and ignored everything else I said... As for having no hype? It had fucking heaps of hype, heaps of marketing couldn't go on Youtube without being bombarded with ads for it. As for being an all time PC great? That's one of the stupidest statements I've ever read. That can't be determined until it's still being played by thousands of people 5 - 10 years down the track.

You aren't reading the charts correctly, heh. Those are *all time* statistics on the far right.

Look at more recent games if you want, it's pretty amazing.

Nah, not even close to the budgets / marketing campaigns above. Not to mention the hype because they were already famous, and anticipated intellectual properties.

As for being an all time PC great? That's one of the stupidest statements I've ever read. That can't be determined until it's still being played by thousands of people 5 - 10 years down the track.

It's already breaking records, and the cult movement has created a legacy, even if it's only economic. I don't really care about how you feel, no offense. I have feelings on the matter as well, and when I examine these charts, and this games impact? I set my feelings aside. I have even less time in the game than you do, and I haven't finished the main story. I'm just observing and commenting on the presence of the game, regardless if I like it or not.

I'm a history buff so already predisposed to this sort of game, I have been following it for years since it was announced...always enjoyed Skyrim/Witcher 3 but a historically authentic/somewhat realistic game is what I always wanted. There are some bugs (I haven't noticed anything too serious though), some dodgy optimising on PC (bad texture pop-in at times), but at the heart of it it is a great game. For me, it lives up to the hype - I have got about 40 hours into the game now, haven't been this into a game in years, and it's just great. Don't get me wrong, not perfect, but plenty to love about it. Especially the combat, I love the attempt to implement HEMA-influenced swordplay.

Looking pretty sharp at this stage:

Regarding this part of your post, the all-time peak is still greater in Kingdom Come. That being said, I'm sure GOG would add substantially to that value as W3 was released for both.

I'm the only person in my friends group who played Witcher 3 on PC the rest all played on console.

Not one of those games was ever in contention for being an ATG of gaming. Hell not one of those games is remotely of interest to me.

Kingdom Come has done incredibly well but calling it an All Time Great of PC Gaming is a stretch. Its breaking records, sure good for it but will it still be being played in 6 months? in two years? who knows. If modding tools aren't released like they initially promised it sure as fuck won't be.

Seeing as you love charts, tell me do you consider

All time Great PC Games? cause they're flogging the shit out of KCD in records and aside from PUBG I wouldn't play the other three if you paid me.

It's all time peak is higher than Witcher's. Not saying it's a better game, but his image is relevant despite the age difference between the games.

I had no clue what this game was 2 weeks ago. Seems like a surprise hit to me.

More people preordered Witcher 3 than have bought KCD yet. Steam charts don't really denote if a game is doing better or worse. KCD has only just broken 1 million sales. On Steam sure it's doing better than Witcher 3, but I haven't even played Witcher 3 on steam, I honestly don't know anyone who has they either got it on console or pirated it.

I also don't know why Mookie got so offended and started listing charts and stats in the first place? I didn't say I hated the game, I just said I was done with it until mod support tools are released. I thoroughly enjoyed the game even with its flaws but the open world is a barren wasteland of few random events and few interesting things to explore (though I did go to the bottom of a mine which took about 30 minutes and found Sir Ulrich still down there just waiting). I'd much prefer if bandits repopulated camps and the like to make the world more interesting.

As for the Hype it didn't live up to here's a list.

The developers said there would be large open world battles you could come across and join (Their aren't).
The trailers showed large forces amassing and meeting for battle in a field. it was purported to be game play (It wasn't)
They said the living world would be vibrant and varied. (I've come across the same NPC's over and over leading me to think there are about 5 males stock NPC's and about 3 female ones just wearing different hats. There is also nothing to really do in the open world as the side quests are few and mostly fetch quests)
The ultra realistic combat (Until you get a suit of armour and level up your strength and become the Terminator easily killing an enemy knight in seconds with no variation of moves)
Intelligent AI (Well yes the AI is super smart when it comes to catching you stealing, but no so smart when it comes to combat, walking and anything else).
Varied armours and weapons (Sure there are a few swords, but very few Axes, Maces, shields, no crossbows. Very few armour styles and only about 4 helmets.)

There are more but I simply can't remember them. I'm not saying it did what Fable did with its hype in which the developer straight up lied about what would be featured but they promised things they could never deliver to drum up hype.

Yup. It's had basically zero marketing, zero hype, etc. It's already sold over a million units.

No offense man, I really want to be able to take you seriously... But it's really, really hard. You make incredibly stupid arguments (not having any idea what "all time" meant next to those numbers) and repeatedly misunderstand, and misrepresent what's being discussed

PUBG is the most played game on Steam. Ever. And will most likely go down as one of the best, most successful shooters ever made. No question.

No Mans Sky had the biggest hype / marketing campaign out of any game I've seen in the last 10-15 years.

PAYDAY 2 is a phenomenal cooperate title, and again one of the most played games on Steam.

You really aren't understanding what I'm saying though, are you? I said Kingdom Come will go down as one of the greatest PC RPG's of all time, and certainly, without a doubt, the best Medieval RPG of all time we've ever seen. It's already breaking records in its genre, and surpassing AAA titles with multi-million dollar marketing campaigns, let alone that they were sequels to already hyped games.

I'm sorry man, you're just going to have to deal with it. You say really stupid shit, and get called out on it. At first you accused me of comparing it to "old games", and when you were proven wrong you came back and posted other games like it somehow is a defense for your ignorance?

Your opinion doesn't really matter, and you don't strike me as someone who's well educated on these subjects.

Oh, so now it's breaking records? I thought it was just "new" and that's why it had higher numbers?

This is exactly what I'm talking about, you have no shame. Even after people correct you, you just keep arguing, and are even presenting the data you disagreed with in an attempt to strengthen your argument.

Yes, Kingdom Come will go down as one of the all-time great PC games, and one of the best RPG's on the platform. I don't really care if you disagree, you have proven to be a half wit multiple times in the small compass of our interactions.

You can name call and question my intelligence all you want. But there is no way this will go down as one of the best RPG's made for PC. Right now is the flash in the pan, no one expected this game to make it as far as it has in terms of sales and quality. But unless people are playing it for years to come (which without the SDK they probably won't be) I can't see it having the longevity to be considered one of the best RPG's ever made.

I'm willing to compromise and admit you've made some good points, but at this point it's sold nowhere near what Skyrim and The Witcher 3 have sold. It's beating them on one platform and that's Steam. I'm hoping that the DLC's they create will breathe new life into it after you finish. But until they reveal what the DLC plans are everyone will be hanging out for the mod tools. If they can release the SDK like they promised this game could easily be bigger than Skyrim. Game of Thrones mod is already being made if they got developer tools to help that the possibilities for this game are endless.
And I get I come off as an asshole I've taken far too many hits to the head through my career boxing and am always on edge.

You may be right, it may be forgotten soon. I think it's combat system and world are unique enough to set it apart from most RPG's, and that alone can give it some legs in the future. It just plays different, it feels different, it doesn't slot into the same place as Witcher 3 / Skyrim, but rather kind of next to them. Who knows though, like you said no one thought it would be this big (I didn't even think it would get as good of reviews as it's getting from places like IGN, Gamespot, PC Gamer, etc).

You aren't an asshole, and if you are I qualify as well. Big time. <Moves>
