McGregor's boxing is worse than I thought

To be fair, he walked right into a shot from Conor and got wrecked. One of those MMA KOs that made me laugh more than left me awestruck.

I still think the Junior Dos Santos KO of Cain was worse. A wide hailmaker that struck the ear of Cain. Hilarious that Cain didnt see it coming and equally astonishing that it connected with and put him out cold with such poor technique. I lost all respect for MMA striking at that point. the guy that was called at the time the best "boxer" in MMA throwing and landing like that.

I remember first hearing about it from my friends who follow the UFC and I assumed McGregor caught him with an impeccably timed counter. Then I saw the video of Aldo reaching and off balance with his chin up like some of the beginners at my boxing gym do. And I recall people saying Aldo is one of the best standup fighters in MMA. That says alot about the level of striking in the UFC.

But Aldo DOES do that all the time. Gotta give Conor credit, he probably studied it and was waiting for it.
But yeah Aldo does have a sick stand-up game. But just like many.....they get used to doing what they do, and someone just as good will exploit it eventually. it was such a flash KO though , Aldo deserves the rematch, same way Cain got the rematch after that silly one punch deal against Dos Santos.

You're discounting who he was knocking out in comparison to who he's fighting in a couple of weeks. Knocking down Nate Diaz isn't the feat it'd be to put Floyd on his ass, who has been down once in his entire career and not even from a punch. One time in 49 fights, most of those against elite level competition and the only KD scored against the guy was one of his own choosing.

Floyd is obviously on another level defensively to ufc fighters but guess what, hes on another level to boxers as well. Most boxers are just as hittable as mma fighters imo. Speaking of Nate, if im not mistaken the only time he had previously been dropped was from a head kick, yet conor dropped him 4 times despite giving up 20lbs.

Maidana gave floyd a tough fight, and his punching technique is friggin awful, he is literally a caveman, no snap, no power just wind mill arm punches. If Conor's cardio holds up he will give Floyd trouble imo, he is not an ordinary fighter.

Thats how i see it as well. Maidana and dela hoya gave him trouble by pushing and making it ugly. sure if conor decided to have a slow technical fight from the outside he will get destroyed. But I think he will get in his face and rough him up. No matter how I dont think conor will come out of this bad as well. Its floyd who has everything to lose

Conor has stopped 18 of 21 opponents and drops everyone with his left, yet the boxing snobs act like he cant even throw a punch properly. Hilarious.

Deontay Wilder has stopped 37 out of 39 opponents. His technique is awful and he gets called out for it.

It isn't a case of snobbery when people don't fall over themselves to give McGregor false praise. The majority of boxing fans and analysts will just be straightforward, whether talking about pretenders like McGregor who take part in an exhibition match, or pretenders who are already in boxing.

maybe for most guys, but there are still guys, who can do this when they hit (football - italy/boxing klitschko ... just an example) 35++. floyd is still in a good shape, probably as good as conor or better lol

I remember first hearing about it from my friends who follow the UFC and I assumed McGregor caught him with an impeccably timed counter. Then I saw the video of Aldo reaching and off balance with his chin up like some of the beginners at my boxing gym do. And I recall people saying Aldo is one of the best standup fighters in MMA.
