The reason it landed was timing if you throw a left hook vs an uppercut in most cases the left hook will win.
It wasn't the prettiest hook but in a real fight you seldom throw textbook punches if you don't completely outclass your opponent and the hook isn't that ugly. And after all it still has his body weight behind him power was the last thing it lacked Tua threw left hooks the same way and he didn't have power issues, no?
