Nick Diaz gets his BJJ black belt

For all the people saying about time.. or why does this person or that person have their Black Belt and Nick doesn't..

Look at the coach, and who promoted them.. Ceaser Gracie does not hand out belts like they are nothing to get more people to his schools.. He has 1 other Black Belt, that being David Terrell, and David Terrell worked for it, just like Nick Diaz did.

I consider alot of New Ceaser Blue Belts to be higher Blue / Low Purple in some other places that are easy to advance.. So yes being a Ceaser Gracie Black Belt is a big deal, and Nick will hold it with pride, and honor..

Now go smoke a bowl and hope to see you at the Gracie Open

Plenty of humble, respectful fighters at Caesar's :icon_twis

damn, that chick at the front is hot

Congrats to Diaz.

Like the guy or not, that's quite an accomplishment.

yeah..it is hard to get a cesar black belt. like theyve said...he only gave one with was to dave terrell.. my buddy goes to cesar and hes been a white belt for quite a while now..and his skills probably could compare to a a good blue belt in another school. cesar does not give out belts like nothing. i believe jake shields is still a brown belt under cesar! thats ridiculous!

That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I have a ton of respect for Nick the fighter, but what the hell was that- it was like he was getting "jumped" into a gang - The guy beat Gomi for God sake......lowered a notch in my belt

Holy crap! I can't believe you never seen this.

Actually I prefer this style of promotion "gaunlet" to the one where people are allowed to punch and kick you. At our school the guy getting promoted has to crawl on their hands and knees once, but I prefer the running on your feet back and forth.

Not really sure who started this but someone told me its a ceremony from Brazil, can't speak for the history or where it really came from.

The gauntlet is a reminder not to become too proud with your promotion, and it's especially prevalent with acquiring your black belt.

I've only witnessed blue belt promotions myself, but I've never seen it happen at my school.

How did he not have his BB and Florian does? His BJJ is much slicker (at least in an MMA context), but I guess standards do vary school to school.....

I read somewhere on here that Kos has a purple?? After training for so short???

come on... kos is a ncaa champion, the guy would have walked his way to purple
