The players today are better. Nostalgia blinds the fuck out of most people, they remember the absolute best and forget everything else.
Truthfully all that’s needed is the eye test, watch a regular season game from the 80s / 90s, then watch a current one. The speed and skill of the current NBA is evident immediately.
Also, regarding the style of play... this is the evolution of basketball. It happens in many sports.
People hate on Floyd Mayweather, they don’t like his style... But what they don’t realize is what they actually hate is the sport of boxing being performed at its highest level. Mayweather was incredible at winning boxing matches according to boxing rules. It’s that simple, you don’t have a problem with Mayweather you have a problem with boxing.
So if you can’t get with times then you just don’t like Basketball... and if you think a 90s style team could compete in today’s NBA, then you’re clearly fucking retarded since you’d be insinuating that teams don’t want to win games.
Serious question, if Hardcan wins a single chip does that move him into 3rd and Wad into 4th (given lengths of prime and both being the best player for one chip).
Lol Kyrie would get superstar calls and go to the line just as much as everyone else did back thenPut Kyrie in the 90s and those extreme handles and breakdowns go bye bye. Its much harder to dance on your defenders when they can reach out and grab, push, and hold you. And weve all seen over the years what just a little bit of physicality does to Stephs game.

Very good defender, well extremely good
So you take arguably the greatest team of all time with the greatest player ever... and then you compare them to the unproven Clippers, James Harden and Brook Lopez?
That’s your reasoning for why 90s NBA > current NBA?
John Stockton's entire career was built on the pick and roll, exposing the man to man mandatory defense of the 90s. With the addition of help D and advanced coverage, he likely wouldn't lead the league in assists. Different Gamez different era. Sure, him and Malone were revolutionary in that sense, but both benefited greatly from the rules of the eraAnyone from the 80s and 90s that can run, dribble, play defence and shoot decent could develop a 3 point shot given the context of how important it becomes to winning
John stockton would school pretty much any pg these days
He literally had no left handAnyone from the 80s and 90s that can run, dribble, play defence and shoot decent could develop a 3 point shot given the context of how important it becomes to winning

He would put the lockdown on any guardHe literally had no left hand
Go watch Stockton clips, theres whole vids on it
You only needed one hand without help D. Just keep you're back to the defender and wait for a screen .He literally had no left hand
