News Proper 12 Bought Out For (Potentially) $600 million

600 million of monopoly money maybe.. seriously. who drinks that swill

Cashed out perfectly. The value of the company is tied to his famous. Conor will only get less famous from here out as he fades from fighting.

The spirits company isn’t stupid though. They know that as well. I see the stuff everywhere, even in small liquor stores that have like ten brands of scotch. They did a terrific job on the distribution it seems. And a lot of effort has been pumped into advertising, so who knows, maybe it’ll become a young person’s alternative to Jameson.

Good for him I guess, but gtfo with that business genius stuff lol.

That's what celebrities do nowadays. Buy a shit company, slap their name on it, and make huge profit. Look at all that celebrity perfume, makeup, and liquor garbage.

Agree, and there’s a lot of gray area between being an actual founder/majority owner of a company and having an endorsement deal. Part of CM’s angle is that he’s a baller and an entrepreneur, so I’m sure the silent (or at least less loud) partners were more than happy to let him run wild boasting about starting/owning/running a company.

What CM deserves credit for is dialing in on the “prize fighting” aspect of MMA and working hard to maximize his earnings and impact. The warrior ethos of the sport works against many of these guys. Many of the sport’s pioneers would have been embarrassed to say that they were turning down a fight because of the money. Anyone, any time, anywhere was supposed to be the fighter’s attitude. CM went the opposite way and turned it into a feature instead of a bug.

He’s been terrific for the sport, including the other fighters.

The guy has made more money than the whole roster combined. Mma fighters need to set up alternate streams of income.

100%. The problem is that most athletes didn’t get good business training, so their idea of a having business interests is to buy a restaurant, which is a brutal business even if you know the industry. And what you see in the WSJ are giant deals that aren’t accessible to most people.

Huge windfall for Conor. A part of me thinks he would have loved to stay in charge though, he loves to be 'the boss'.
This is another area of his life that he can't be as visible in the public eye, he's turning full Floyd and trying to stay relevant from tweeting.

There’s no chance he was in charge, and he’s smart enough to know that he wouldn’t want to be. He’s the face of the brand, which is a role that he’s very well suited for.

Is Dana in charge of the UFC?

That was a good move. Total successful business venture.

Insane for a 2 year old marketing. This kind of growth due almost entirely to Conor's marketing would be impossible prior to the social media age.

pepsi and coke's advertising blitz in the 80s had no where near the advertising marketing penetration that social media can give you today

Him and his 2 business partners were bought out for $600m. Is that better?

He might have only made 9 figures on a whiskey he's had for like 3 years. What a bum.

It’s still not accurate because it is spun as ‘deal worth up to $600’ this is very expansive language which means it could reach that amount in certain circa with caveats etc.

This has still been a really successful business venture for him, it’s monetised his appeal v well with probably little financial risk.

Are there any plausible estimates on what Conor's cut is?

As far as the maths go, do we know how much Mcgregor has put in from his own pocket? And how much of the 600 million is going back in there? Because without these figures no equation is possible, so you are all guessing.

Or did I miss something?

It's a save guess that SD is guessing most of the time, half of the time, every time, 100% of the time.
