Tarrifs are niether good nor bad. They are a tool. How you use that tool determines it's value.

As far as Trump is concerned, I still don't know how he is trying to use that tool, and to what purpose, but I have a reflexive reaction to defend tarrifs for just such situations as you describe above.

If Trump wants the political capital that can be gained through rising wages, through increased demand, and less supply of labor, given at the expense of trade partners, how is an American to feel about that?
