Road House Remake Discussion Thread Starring Conor McGregor

The best crossover star from MMA to acting will always be Randy Couture…

His movies are favorite.

If he'd prepared for the film with Ido Portal his acting would have been nice and flowy

He method acted as someone tall by playing basketball for weeks before hand like Tom Cruise does

They should have just made a movie, about trying to remake a nostalgic movie and the hurdles and changes the production had to overcome just to get it to the small screen. This remake was doomed from the start.

If it was a reasonably good movie, it would have been worth at least a theatrical release in January or September. Everyone knew this movie was going to suck balls, and for some reason Dana thinks the media tour plugging this piece of shit movie went on for weeks or months and used it to defend Conor in not being able to/wanting to fight etc.

This wasn't a major motion picture with massive theatrical opening here and overseas.

Non actor isn't great at acting. Color me shocked.

Honestly, I thought this movie would be worse than it is. I'm enjoying it.

Jake Gyllenhaal is one of my favorite actors that has been in some fantastic films, yet, he's also done quite a few questionable stinkers...

He oscillates back and forth between being one of the more intense actors of his generation (Nightcrawler, Nocturnal Animals, etc) and then just a hack, collecting paychecks. Pretty odd. I almost wonder if he just throws darts at a wall of names to determine his next film.

Did anyone expect anything different though?
Conor is not an actor and everyone knows this.
Not sure why Jake would take that role except for the money

This movie sounds hyper realistic. Troubled ex-UFC fighter makes a living scamming circuit fighters and takes a job at a dive bar. Broke after a UFC career. shocking

You seem like a cunt relying on others for your opinion.

Why don't you watch it yourself you small man?

Its not even good by B action film standards
The best movie in the last year was apparently Oppenheimer. Tons were outraged Barbie wasn't even nominated.

Best movie this year so far is apparently Dune Part 2, a 3 hr movie covering only 50-100 pages of Dune and changing every part of it to fit Denis' view points because he isn't sure if Dune Messiah is being made. And still being wrong about his changes.

Hell, the Acolyte apparently just set a Disney record for Star Wars Disney trailers despite the entire premise being against the entire point of The Phantom Menace by having a series about Sith revealing themselves 100 years before Darth Maul revealed himself as the first Sith in 1000 years.

Spare me your bullshit about what a "good" movie is these days.

As per IMDB - Roadhouse

Here’s some of the more complimentary ones I could find

“I'm not sure why they attempt to remake such strong 80s movies and think just by sticking in some expensive looking choreographed fight scenes that people would ignore the terrible scripting. Why they decided to cast McGregor, is beyond me. Possibly the worst acting I've ever seen, so wooden and boring it really ruined an ok film. Jake as usual was great, acting was very solid, you can tell he does his homework. I did get a bit bored half-way through and thought about turning it off but the optimist in me wanted to see if anything did improve. It's not going to win many awards and don't think McGregor has much of an acting career ahead of him.”

“I was expecting a fun action movie, and it started well. Jake is great (as youd expect), and so are most of the supporting cast.

There are also some fun moments and lines. But then Conor Mcgregor turns up and it goes down hill fast. He really can't act, and just stomps around spouting cringe one liners that he can't pull off. You'd also expect at least his fight scenes to be good, but they weren't.

With another actor in the Mcgregor role this could have been a great action movie.

The fight scenes are hit and miss with some looking very fake with some bad cgi at times too. In fact the cgi is pretty poor in general.”

Saw the movie and you can smell a hater like this miles away, movie is a solid action movie, don't listen to haters go to TV and watch. Fucking fun movie!

Oh I hope Conor doesn’t read those reviews, it’ll send him over the edge and cause him to drink and drugs.
