Rum, Sodomy & the Lash

Running
1.5 hours

Notes
Really want a 300 PFT. 18:00 minute 3 mile is going to be extremely hard though.

Lifting starts tomorrow. I haven't decided really on rep schemes but I'm probably going to do a 4 day squat/bench/deadlift/overhead split. Maybe 5/3/1. I'm such a program hopper but I need something where I can just turn my mind off and lift so I can focus on Judo/BJJ when I start this week.

How are your pull ups looking? 20 is easy?

Oh yeah. 20 pullups is easy and 100 crunches has always been a joke. That run is insane to me though. I've never been a runner and it wasn't until I joined the Marines I could run below a 8:00 mile.

Just playing around until I figure out what I want my schedule to be like.

Texas Method works really well for BJJ/wrestlers because it's so adaptable. And instead of program hopping when you get that urge to switch things up it's super easy to make slight changes but still stick to the basic parameters that make it such a successful program.

Truer words never spoken. Let me know how you like that judo place. Is it sport judo or combat/self-defense judo?

Here is a really good article about the differences between sport/competition judo and self-defense judo from the guy I'll be training with soon.

With your sick jitz skillz Ne-waza shouldn't be a problem for you.

I've been to the Judo place a few times. Learned falls and have worked on osoto-gari and ippon seoi-nage.

A few observations: it's a lot more formal than I'm used to. Not that I have a problem with it, just noting it. I'm also concerned because there are only a handful of students, and they're all pretty new.

I think I'm going to check out a nearby BJJ gym next month.
