Furthest I’ve been up the Potomac is Great Falls NP.

I guess Harper Ferry would count too.

I've never been to Great Falls, but I hear good things.

I've been thinking of moving to Harpers Ferry. They have some awesome mountain/wooded properties for relatively cheap.

I'm not looking to get into anything near that big (or even that expensive honestly) but theres a huge 6 bedroom, 7 bathroom 11,000 square foot house on 13 acres. It has two kitchens and a huge indoor swimming pool.

listed at 625k

Some people like a lot of space- which I get.

A house that big would stress me out. Lol.

That house gives me the creeps lol.

This one only cost a million. Looks like the pictures are from a 70’s horror movie lol

Montgomery County is nice. Up near Dickerson and Poole. No MS13 up there.

@therealdope you know anything about Mt Katahdin

Gonna plan a few day trip up there this spring / summer

No, not at all. Alltrails gives it a pretty awesome review: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/maine/katahdin-peak-knife-edge-trail

If you do it, let me know how it goes. Might have to add it to the list of places to hit.

BTW I've only been to Maine a couple of times. You probably already know this but there are some scary folk in Maine once you 'turn off the main road'.

They should clothe the homeless in authentic Reebok fight gear and force them by chainsaw to bumfight to the death in the town square

gonna look to buy some land near Burney Falls in Shasta County, Norcal.
I can get 10-20 acres with a house on it for about 300K.
voted best trout fishing in the country.
also Rails to Trails is about to open 60 miles of old Southern Pacific track trails for hiking and mtn biking.
scenery is supposed to be awesome. plus very few people.

Those reviews are pretty spot on. Last time I hiked it was in 2010 and I brought my parents who made it to the top. Out of the 9 that started 7 finished. My dad tore his MCL on the way down though.

I'm afraid to ask how far down the mtn he was when he tore his MCL

I wiped out running down one of the mountains this summer - could have easily fractured a tibia - I just ended up with a hematoma the size of a baseball. Still painful running the last 3km while a 4" swelling was forming on my shin.

He was within a mile of the parking lot. He walked out just fine. I guess what they say is true: it’s not the ascent that will get you but the decent.

I descended the north rim of the grand canyon last month. Shit was tough and I was with people 20 years older than me. Lol

Everything about going downhill lends itself to injury.

When you're going uphill... you're moving pretty slow and just battling cardio and muscle fatigue. But your ability to injure yourself with tiny steps and low impact isn't much.

On the way down everything comes into play... higher impact, speed, uneven footing... it's generally a recipe for disaster lol. If your body isn't tuned to handle that demand it will break fairly quickly.
