So did Goddard mess up the Simon fight?

Yes, he messed it up. Unless the replay was called for, then he was in his right to reassess the outcome and make a ruling to change it.

Yeah this is a good point as well, the fact that his arms were already in dead fish mode even before the horn sounded.

im not arguing one way or the other, but is there a gif that shows the full thing? this is blatantly cut off so people cant see what happens literally 2 seconds after

How the hell can you retroactively stop a fight?

The semantics pf what the "rules are" and what our eyes see is up for debate.

But that asside, what difference does seeing before or after those "2 seconds" make?

because it shows what you want it to show, not the whole video where the guy sits up and says something

It doesn't matter what happened 2 seconds later because he was OUT as soon as the goddamn choke was released. How is that hard to understand?

Not to mention it's dangerous as fuck to let a guy stay in a choke for 45 seconds when he is clearly going out and coming back to consciousness for short periods.
Just because he had his eyes wide open and his legs are shaking doesn't mean he isn't out, that can be a natural reaction from your nerves because your brain isn't getting blood and is sending out all kinds of weird signals to your extremities.

ur replying to words i didnt say, bud

No, it's a lack of bloodflow. No offense, but you don't understand how this works. When someone wakes up from getting a clean blood choke, they don't start taking a bunch of deep breaths as if they had been drowning without air. They just wake up. Like he did.
stopping blood flow to the brain is stopping oxygen to the brain, two different kinds of chokes but same result, lack of oxygen rich blood to brain causing sleepy time

He was unconscious and had to be helped to hi corner. If that happened at 5:00 of round 1 or round 2, it's a TKO for Simon, absolutely no difference here. Merab was unable to even stand up because he was fucking unconscious - fight is done, Simon wins. Undeserved win, for sure, but a win nonetheless and props to him for fighting right until the final bell.
