Round ended, but having a few more seconds it was going to be a clear TKO, either way it IS a TKO, but the reason for it its the doctor's stoppage, just a technicality.

How was it clear that it would be a TKO, his busted leg?

Conor wasnt defending himself, if you watch those final seconds Conor falls down and just covers his face, add 10 seconds of Poirier punching him it was getting stopped for sure, im not saying he was hurt because of the punches...but he wasnt really defending anymore, once the round ends and he sits up and his team enters the cage he was the one telling them about his broken leg, only a few more seconds would have been needed but the round ended.

I think the stoppage just further reinforces Dan Hardy's argument for how bad of a ref Herb Dean is. There was no need to bring in the doctor to call the fight as Conor could not stand up to continue anyways, doesn't matter what the doctor says. His assessment was not necessary nor needed. Big John said as much as well on his podcast with Josh Thompson.

Conor wanted to make sure DP didn't get his bonus. So he pushed hard for Dr stoppage.
