International Trump/Kim Singapore Summit **UPDATE** Korean Denuclearization Agreement Signed

This all makes sense. We cool our presence in the region and they follow through on their end. If they don't, we'll be right back there before summer is over.

Do you think we'll actually stop joint exercises?

The US military along with Japan and South Korea were caught off guard by this.

Mattis said the day before the summit that it was premature to even talk about it and today Pence was reassuring the GOP Senate that military operations in the area will go on as planned.

I get what you are saying, completely.

I just fully believe that NK would simply restart their Nuke testing somewhere else if the only reason they've stopped was due to the original site failing.

What bout you?

I think that if that's their goal, they'll do it deal or no deal.

I agree, absolutely.

What's your guess here though?

This isn't some gotcha shit or anything or a referendum on Trump.

I'd guess that NK will get back to testing somewhere down the line, probably if they feel the US has soft or predictable leadership.

I don't know. Would we really need a strong presence there if NK was defanged?

Anybody else almost pee themselves seeing both these posts on the same page?

Sounds even-handed to me considering they have also commented with much positivity on the outcomes of the meeting. You can't pick and choose.

Time for you to start watching more FoxNews.

WASHINGTON ― U.S. President Donald Trump is calling on the military to suspendjoint military exercises with treaty ally South Korea on the eve of the confirmation hearing for his prospective ambassador to the country, retired Adm. Harry Harris, who was a staunch supporter of the exercises as head of U.S. Pacific Command.

In interviews after his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Trump told reporters that while the two countries are negotiating, continuing exercises might be unhelpful.

“Under the circumstances, we are negotiating a comprehensive and complete deal [on denuclearization]. It is inappropriate to have war games,” he told reporters.

But Harris, who is set to testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday, oversaw regular exercises between South Korean and U.S. military forces and regularly defended them in the face of criticism from North Korea, which considers the drills provocative.

“We are obliged to defend South Korea by treaty,” Harris told the House Armed Services Committee last year. “They have a very strong and capable military, as we do. But if we’re going to defend them or if we’re going to fight with them on the peninsula, then we have to be able to integrate with their military. ... We have to understand their military and vice versa.

“We have to maintain our degree of readiness, not only unilateral readiness, but also our combined and joint readiness with our brothers and sisters in the [South Korean] military.”

The question of Trump’s suspension of military drills with South Korea will almost certainly come up in Harris’ hearing.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon plans to restructure and scale back some upcoming training, but insists joint training will continue, the Washington Examiner reported Tuesday, citing Pentagon officials.

In a statement to Reuters, a spokesperson for U.S. Forces Korea said the command “has received no updated guidance on execution or cessation of training exercises”

Trump looked loose and happy. You could tell he was in his element.
He was loving it. This could be the highlight of his life, the potential of this is enormous and he knows it.

Time for you to start watching more FoxNews.

You were criticizing CNN and other outlets for not praising the deal. You were congratulating Fox for praising it.

Pretending you were commending them for the very video you completely missed isn't gonna work. We all know what you meant, and the hilarity of a Foxnews video criticizing the deal above your post, is priceless.

Sad post is sad. Your CNN-like spin doesn't work.

You quoted me, but I'll requote my original post in this thread:

"Making the world great again. Sad that CNN and most of MSM controls so many minds still. Thank goodnes for a more even-handed FoxNews during times like these."

Give me specific examples of what CNN and those "MSM"s are doing that you consider not even handed.

Then give me an example of FoxNews being even-handed... that isn't the Sheppard Smith video.

Then we'll go back to how full of shit you are, and how what you meant by your post is clear as day.

fucking Warroom. Sports Bar analysis has nothing on this sub-forum.

That's a big if. Even without Nukes NK has conventional artillery aimed at Seoul that would cause huge damage.

And we're also in the region for China. SK isn't the only country we conduct these military exorcises with.

It sets a bad precedent going forward with Russia and China complaining about American aggression.

The sanctions are hurting them and all of this shit is very expensive.

They might not have the money to currently rebuild one.

That is the normal procedure with NK to make these overtures until they get sanction relief and then continue doing what they were doing.

This is one of the main reasons people were clamoring for Kim to give some sort of concession in exchange for a summit and especially in exchange for the US changing their military exorcises with SK.
