No defense needed at all.

His talk on fixing the trade deficit will also likely get him reelected.. I mean, people thought that was the democrats job for years there, but Trump doesn't care and seems to be willing to do something. It's a big issue, sending close to a trillion of your dollars around the world every month. You either print more, or go completely broke. Both are bad for America.

I think it depends on how bad the trade war gets. We are hearing people on the right talk about how stupid it is and stories like Harley Davidson, while anecdotal, are certainly bad press for Trump. A trade war can certainly trigger a self induced recession or at a minimum hurt several industries. It won't be catastrophic, but it's bad.

The whole thing is going to depend on how the economy is doing in 2020. If it's roaring along Trump will have a big advantage. If we have a recession or healthcare costs go crazy, etc. he will be in trouble.

That's a not a big, deep analysis but I don't think much more is needed here. We know what we have with Trump.
