UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Curtis 2

In the first fight Curtis hurts him bad and dosnt let him recover. He lands big knee that forces Allen down. Herb immediately steps in. Not saying it was early at all and Alllen certainly looks done laying on the ground but I wonder if in a main event status fight it goes on a bit longer.... I certainly think he will have more time to recover at least.

The point in all of this is I just wouldnt trust Curtis unless I know he puts the guy away. He's just not a reliable minute winner. He's like one of those guys that thinks world and judges are against them despite in their mind doing everything right. And he doesnt adept at all. He just either is plain better fighter or he finds a ko on a reckless opponent. I know Jack is pretty good but that fight sucked and it seemed like Curtis could only blame Jack for it.

Funny fact about Morgan Cherriere is that he has 3 majority decision losses and one split dec loss and those are his only defeats in 6 years. Especially the majority decisions seem so random considering how rare the result is overall in mma. Seems kinda unlucky to not get at least one or two draws out of those? At least CW has a normal 10-9 scoring to my knowledge.

Curtis was miserably outstruck by Imavov, and taken down multiple times, despite the "elite" TDD. I certainly wouldn't count out that scenario happening again, I'd think Allen has improved since last fight, and Curtis has probably declined a little.

And what happened when Curtis didn't get the success or fight he wanted vs Hermansson? He looked lost, got frustrated, and did the Chase Sherman vs Arlovski type deal of yelling for the guy to come in swinging, since he himself could do absolutely nothing, nor adjust.

I certainly don't love Allen, but Curtis should not win this one.

(edit: "miserably", not "miserable")

Tbf Imavov is a much better striker than Allen.

I like Morono and Bahamondes parlay
GDR as a dog but her coming back from pregnancy is iffy might not touch that fight
Like Calvillo but again too sketchy for me to play might take the Over 2.5
I like Charlie Campbell ML. He is better than Peak everywhere and should be able to get the job done.
I also Like Brendan Allen to get the job done via dec.
I also like Chipe as a dog and he is my fav dog pick on this card.

Keep in mind Marc is now 5-6 (or 6-6 if the Piechota win didn't get overturned) and the best fighter he beat is Anders, a fellow .500 UFC fighter who looked like shit in his subsequent fight against one of the worst guys signed.

He's got a solid chin and cardio, but going to a split with him is an indictment of where you currently stand as a fighter. I'm more interested in the over since I feel that while Curtis has lost a step and will most likely lose, he should keep himself pretty safe when in danger. Probably a fight where he goes from trying to win to just surviving like he seemed to be doing against Imamov.
Imo this was a clear win for Chris

Cesar Almedia as underdog? TDD held up on DWTNCS and he was underdog there from memory. If he keeps it standing he wins easy, can he stay up right long enough?

Budka is more of an actual competent wrestler than the striker Almeida fought on Contender Series, so that's probably it.

Has worse striking though and not great GnP to cause any damage

Why are so many cappers on YouTube saying that Argueta opened as favorite? Thats not true, Matsumoto opened at -225. He’s way better than Argueta but i feel like hes too small. He looks like a 125er. Im having a tough time with this fight

This Hernandez vs Jackson fight reminds me of Edmen vs Dobson. I faded Edmen in the same odds range instead of just picking the better fighter. Hernandez is way better then Jackson

People are taking the “he won 1st fight and he’s dog money in rematch” trap. The value trap. This is such a common bait that sportsbooks use. We saw it with Omalley last month. Brendan Allan is going to look like a -1000 favorite I guarantee it

One thing to consider about Hernandes is that he actually done well counterwrestling but gets tired when opponent preassures him with striking and....well punching Alex in the face. Does Damon have that sort of striking or is his preassure all about closing distance to wrestle? Because that sort of fight I can see going to Alex more often than not.

I mean I agree with you. Hernandez is the better fighter here and it should be a pretty straightforward bet. I just feel that Hernandez is so untrustworthy and at -200 I think I just rather pass.

Took a 1U bet on Pedro Falcao to win over Victor Hugo @+120.

Hugo is very dangerous and very opportunistic with submissions, but I feel like he is a bit flailing and wild. Falcao seems more composed and well rounded. Falcao has solid takedown defence and is really strong grappler as well.
I just think that the way Hugo fights is the type of style that works better on the regional scenes and low level. When you get up to the UFC, fighters doesn't do as many mistakes for Hugo to capitalise on. I also feel that Hugo might have bad gas tank, while I think Falcao can push for longer.

I see this fight being Falcao on top and winning most of the scrambles while Hugo is going for submissions. Happy to play him as an underdog as I think he should be the slight favourite (The short notice is a concern).

Jean is worlds apart better on the feet. he has suspect grappling defense but he’s gone this long without losing so its hard to believe he would not have been exposed by now. i think jean will look like a heavy favorite.

Sad to see GDR's odds getting tighter. Regardless of that, I just have to bet her. She's on a mission for the belt. She knows UFC will most likely give her the title shot, if she wins here, because there's nobody else worthy at the moment. There is a good chance for Norma to get tired after the 1st. She's not subtle fighter with her striking or wrestling. Likely Germaine will get taken down at some point, but the crude attempts of Norma will get her gassed. Norma can't fight for sh1t when she's outta gas. I think the moment she gets tired a little bit she's getting knocked out or even maybe submitted. I don't have thoughts on any other bout from this card, I just watched these girs' fights all week.

Anyone has any insight on Valter Walker. Haven't started watching tape yet, but this screams of over hyped "prospect".
Got that shiny record and the brother of a known UFC star. Feels like the kind of guy the UFC loves build up against fat heavies.

But Brzeski is not great... but with USADA gone, perhaps he will be back on that good stuff again.

I think Valter Walker is gonna struggle, to be honest.

Brzeski was bouncing back to his feet when Karl Williams was taking him down, and Williams is a way better wrestler than Valter Walker is. He's also sloppy on the feet.

I can still see Walker maybe getting a decision, though, as he does seem to produce a lot of output. I'm just not sure Brzeski is good enough to pick him apart, although I won't discount it entirely.

Should be a slopfest.

Agree. And Dumont doesn't do any damage. The scoring criteria now matters so much more in a fight like this. Could see GDR piece Dumont up for 2 minutes to start a round then get taken down and controlled but the round still go to GDR due to damage.

Big surprise, Calvillo weighs in at 119lbs, and the fight is off.
