Was Zhang/Rose an early stoppage?

She stumbled once when she first stood up and that was it. The fact that she can walk, talk and protest the stoppage shows she was already recovered.
 
Why are we acting as if she didn't go out cold? Why are we pretending that if someone gets KOed they're unconscious for minutes and not seconds?
 
She was folded by the high kick. People would be complaining if the ref let her eat more hammerfists.
 
Nah, could had gone longer but deff not early to the point it turns into a bad stoppage.

It was an early stoppage, it's a championship fight. Weili was down and she was getting punched but she could have rolled around, grabbed rose, stall the round etc. But ultimately i think it was good for weili she didn't need another war and need to play catch up if she manged to survive the first round so it's better to fight another day. Good job by Keith Pederson who is getting better everytime he steps into the octagon

She got knocked out and then her head bounced off the canvas waking her up again so she could eat some hammerfists with no defense whatsoever.

Sometimes fighters go out and then they protest because they don't know what's going on. Sometimes they even start fighting again like this guy, Ma Jia Wen, who had the presence of mind to leg lock the referee after getting KO'd:

 
I dont know how anyone can say this,she gets hit with the kick,and she never tries to defend. she just sits up,and rose barely touches her,and she goes almost limp. Rose punches her and all she did was put her palm on the mat when the ref stopped it. She was beyond done.
 
No, but it was a classic case of simply pushing a badly hurt opponent over leading a ref to jump the gun and stop the fight.

Seriously. Start watching for this. Barring fighters who actually get put out, fighters who push/bullrush their opponents down get stoppages far more often than ones actually trying to hit their opponent's head again. The refs always jump the gun because of the positioning making them look KO'd/being open to worse punishment.

You can't unsee it once you notice it.
 
The ref should have stopped the fight the moment she was kicked in the face, planked and fell with her hands down while making no attempts to break her fall with said hands. Just because hitting her head on the canvas woke her back up didn't mean she didn't already get KOed; there's no reason for a fighter who's already been KOed once in a fight to have to be KOed a bunch more times right afterwards.

What is your interpretation of why Zhang does not pick her head off of the canvas until a full second after it was stopped, or try to stand up until a full 3 seconds after it was stopped?

Normally when it’s an early stoppage the fighter is still moving, so they immediately pop up once the ref gets in between them. But as we can see in this video Zhang is literally motionless on the canvas for a full second after the ref stops it, & doesn’t gather the wherewithal to try to stand until a full 3 seconds after it’s been stopped.

how do you reconcile this with your assertion that it was an early stoppage?
 
Weili could have taken more punches until they stopped it.
