I have the Ruger in .357 mag. It's an awesome gun. I do t find it ugly. The stock grip feels great.

AR 15. Just looks like the archetypal sleek, modern assault rifle. Makes the AK 47 looks like something you'd find in rusting in a dark corner of a barn. I've never handled an assault rifle, but the AR 15 looks like it would feel ergonomic.

There's a bunch of double action revolvers from the early 20th century up up to the 1980's that look like flawless, well-oiled pieces of machinery, as long as they aren't too heavy calibre, or have too long barrels or hypermodern grips and rails and crap like that. There's something to be said for simplicity. Some revolvers are so pretty they could be used as decoration. The S&W 27, for example.
