Legit top 5 for me as well. I was lucky enough to see his show live. He was older, in fact it must have been one of his last tours, but he was still as sharp as ever. Funny as hell, and made you think.

Top 50 probably. I like the guy but he is overratted imo.

Carlin is number 1 based on his body of work, however Chappelle is in my opinion the funniest, but he lacks Carlin’s level of output, longevity, and social commentary.

I saw chappelle live unnanounced late one night at the comedy store in hollywood and he had the whole audience and all the staff in pieces just reading his text messages and talking to the piano man. funny as hell but still not Carlin’s level in terms of significance.

I never had a chance to see George live but would have loved to go to one of his shows back in the day on some good LSD.

I like listening to him,but it doesnt really make me LAUGH like my fav comedians do,its just enrtertaining to listen to. I like him and his observations, but he never made me laugh out a lung or make me wanna rewind

He's the GOAT, and probably by a decent margin...

Consistently one of the funniest on the comic scene for 40+ years.
Material still relevant today.
Important figure in social criticism, and free speech proponent.
Universally respected by his peers.
Influenced virtually every conedian that came after him.
